You're fotunate, I can't say I've ever had a dog that was not sprayed by a skunk. Actually, every single one of them got hit many times over the years. I think it started when we moved out of town in 1993. I have a dedicated box of baking soda, bottle of H2o2 and Dawn in the bathroom, have for years. No porkies here though.

So very hard to loose a fur family friend. We get so attached to them because they are a part of who we are. My pets are buried in the back lawn except for one who died during the winter. I still have her ashes on my dresser. Rest peacefully Oscar.

    Wow.. what a thread.
I have to admit.. I only made it through the first 10 pages, then the last 10.

My condolences to all of you that have lost your furry family members, whether they be cats, dogs, or just family members that are razor challenged.

It is the hardest thing of having a pet.. saying goodbye.

After we lost Linux, our last dog.. it took around 3 years till I was ready for a new addition.
Jill says she was ready about a year in.

Then we got Holly, our rescue dog via a family friend.
She didn't work well with his ex's dogs, nor his.
We had none.. so it's a fit.

As an abused pup.. she's not keen on men.. but after she warmed up to me she's been my girl.

    Second G'hog she has gotten.
She's a hunter, chipmunks, mice, g'hogs have all been fair game to her.

    She's my constant companion.
We know she has black lab and chow in her.. possibly some terrier also.
    So.. All American Mutt.

    It was an easy choice.:D
She was introduced to us on Labor Day weekend, and when he brought her up, he said that if there were any problems to give him a call. Jill pretty much told him not to expect a call.

As stated, she doesn't care much for men.. hope I never get robbed by a band of female thieves. :jaw:

After she warmed up to me, I went downtown to get her some food, and a new collar and when I came back she met me at the bush with her hackles up and tail tucked. I knew she meant some business.. not just posing.

I stopped.. knelt down and talked to her till she was reassured who I was, after that weekend I had Jill let her out of the house so she wouldn't feel trapped at the door. She darted straight for me, and has been my 'Puppa' ever since.

I come home and I'm not sure if the azz is wagging the tail or vice versa, but that's a love you cannot buy.:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

I do feel lost without my canine companions.. but after 2011.. I had to have a break.
Linux had to be put down due to severe spinal injury, in spring (April I believe) 2011 after slipping on icy stairs.

My Mother died in January 2011, my father died in October 2011, and Jill in a ATV accident around June 2011.
2011 was a SH## year, and I was more than happy to see it end.:faint:

So ends another short chapter in the "Story of Chaz"

My high school English teacher always said I should be a writer.. if she only knew.

What a devastating year! Understandable that you needed a break and time to re-center yourself.

Glad Holly came into your life and she is showing her appreciation for opening your home by getting all the vermin.
