When you have children, especially four of them...3 preteen and teen daughters, and a 4 year who thinks she is; just strapping them into the car and walking from the side door to the drivers door is a mini-vacation. So to go on a hot date is something the days down to. We have some good friends at church, and at a wedding where the woman was dressed up nice and looked very pretty, everyone was telling her she was. She confided to Katie that she had a little red dress that was even better, but her husband did not want her to wear it just anywhere. Katie mentioned her little red dress, and maybe having a double-date Little Red Dress Date with them (Katie and I, her and her husband) and so today we have scheduled one for Saturday. We even got baby sitters all lined up! The woman was really excited, just wanting an excuse to wear it for her husband. So Katie decided where to go...a restaurant called RiverDriver's up by Mount Katadin, some 2-1/2 hours away. We have been there a few times and it is a high end restaurant for sure that overlooks Millinocket Lake and Mount Katadin! Now with a name like Riverdriver's, and Katie in her little red dress...no children...that is something to look forward too. It really should be a great time, these are great friends. 6 Days to Go! (I would post a photo of Katie in her Little Red Dress, but I think I posted it on here before and would hate to repeat myself).
So.... Today I was buying Katie a bracelet for our date night and the most unusual thing occurred. I always use cash, but this time I was paid back in (2) $2 dollar bills. Now a single $2 bill is rare, but two of them??? I would like to say it was luck, but I am not so sure. Getting to the store we barely missed a pedestrian listening to a walkman, then a van pulled out in front of me, and finally a tanker truck...all in the span of 1 minute. Then as we tried to cross the parking lot to the jewelry store almost got run over by a car. That is NOT good luck!
Unless you saw them holding a fat, bulky playback device, they probably had earbuds (headphones for the uninitiated) in their ears, plugged into a smaht phone or MP3 player (this was in Maine after all, right ).... But either way, you’ll see and have to avoid plenty of this from now on, LT.
LodgedTree My youngest son gets 2 dollar bills all the time. They are fun to spend. You should be able to get them at your bank. Makes great gifts for grandkids instead of the same old same old currency.
I did not catch this post previously, but when I read "walkman" it took me immediately back to the '80s and I was kinda traumatized briefly. Glad to see that you're out here looking out for this kind of shenanigans Eric VW Hope you and the others enjoy the date night LodgedTree. Chaz
Someone told me in conversation that they got new $2 Bills from the nudie bar to give to the ladies instead of ones. Someone else in the conversation said they had the same experience. So the real question is......where were you buying Katie this bracelet???
Well this guy in a gold-gilded fedora and a fur vest asked me if I needed a bracelet for my wife, so he took me into this hole-in-the-wall business establishment with no name on any sign anywhere, peeled back his furry vest, and let me see 50 dangling bracelets inside, which he swore was real gold... I am just joking, it was a real jewelry store, and while the salesperson was a woman, I wonder if the owner was a shady guy who happened to frequent girlie bars? It does make sense; I thought (and I do not know this for a fact), it was understood by banks not to openly dispense $2 bills for general circulation via handouts to businesses? I have run across one now and then, but two of them...seems odd. The sucky part is I have to explain to Katie why I have (2) $2 bills and have NOT been to a girlie bar! As for our date tonight, Katie found another Little Red Dress , but sadly it is a little longer in length then her old one. I is still well above the knee, but could be 2 inches shorter to be preferable, but could not find anyone to hem it on such short notice. We had fun buying it though. I don't get out much, so when I am, I can chat with anyone, and we had (4) employees at the dress shop critiquing each dress that Katie tried on. Katie is very hard on herself, so it was good to have people say she had the figure to wear such a dress. Of course she also found a new pair of shoes; black stilettos with a 4 inch heel, but unlike most of hers that are peep-toed, these are pointed toed, but said they are really comfortable. She cannot wear stockings because her dress is too short, but hopefully can wear beige pantyhose because she likes some color on her legs. With her old Little Red Dress she could not wear anything underneath because it was so tight and thin that the seams would telegraph through, but this new dress is made different. She will look good I am sure, but as for me...dressing me up is like putting lipstick on a pig. (Katie in her old Little Red Dress)
