It's hardwood, was dumped with a big pile of oak leaves, but the bark seems too smooth to be oak. IMG_20180301_2575.jpg IMG_20180301_11528.jpg IMG_20180301_19298.jpg IMG_20180301_28232.jpg

I would guess it is some type of domesticated/hybridized locust. Being in a tree dump most likely means it was from someone's yard, and this looks like an old shademaster honeylocust.

Should be great, not good, firewood. Get all you can.

Thanks! I think I got most of what I could lift. But I'll check for more. I'm psyched, a new kind of wood!

Honey locust is a good guess. I have one and it’s very similar.

There you have it. I went back for one last chunk, but the bigger pieces I had to leave behind. Can't use a chainsaw at the city dump, I don't want to get banned. As it is, I think they recognize me and my car. Thanks for everyone's help!

The kid can ride on the roof rack. Be an adventure for him. Children have surprisingly strong grip strength.

More important to keep the wood dry.

You THINK they recognize you? You're in there at least twice a day, I'd hope they recognize you!

    Nice score if its locust!

What about some sort of Cherry?
Bark on the most recent picture looks a little cherryish, but wood color is a little off on what I would suspect.
