Speaking of ticks, just found one crawling across my keyboard.
Was out in the woods today.

Day started out at 15 with a clear sky. Nice mild temps and it sounded like a male cardinal singing up a storm in top of a black spruce tree. Couldn't see him as it was still too dark. Hit 45 with sunshine all morning and then clouds this afternoon.

Got up into the 50's today and a lot of water was running. I let the fire go out and I will get it going again in the morning.

Just curious why you wouldn't reload at those temperatures. 50degrees or below my stove is burning. Heck it's almost 60 here and my wife and kids are wondering why I don't have a fire going.

I burned a few poplar pieces like that a couple weeks ago. Yeah, that stuff burns hot.

Yeah, ours is still cold too. Tomorrow night I'll get it choochin' again. Nearly 60 today. 43 for a high tomorrow.

Dealing with -30 for about a month makes mid 40s feel like a sauna.

My home is very tight & insulated well. I did kick on the pellet stove for an hour this morning, house stayed upper 60s all day. Kicked it on again this evening, nearly 70 inside, heading down to about 30 tonight- no fire.

64 when I left work. WTF... it's February.

I read that it got above freezing at the North Pole. Holy chit...

Burning? Yes, I burnt the mock chicken legs...but nothing in the stove. :'(

Currently -9 C feels -15 C, or 15 F feels 5 F. Burning down some rough looking, snowpile dwelling, punk/ant/bee trashy wood. It's so ugly, I leave it out on the step, and walk it straight in to throw in the stove!

I feel the same way as you with the coldest of winter temps hopefully behind us. I was a balmy -4c/24f today and now -6c/21f and I had the stove out for one cyle of my burn today. We recovered it late this afternoon but just barely. Its feeling pretty warm in here. Burning doug fir/larch for an overnighter right now. Yesterday it was completely out through the day while we were at work and it didnt get above freezing that I can remember.

+6°F last I looked. All I have for wood is fuel rods and seasoned dry wood in the shed. Fuel rods in the stove and corked off.

37F. I lit a small fire yesterday morning, and skipped last night. Woke up to 63F in the house. Some pine and oak coming to life now. Supposed to hit 60F today.

Currently -16 C or 4 F. Looks like warm days and cool nights for some time yet. Poplar for now, and some versions of cherry and siberian elm to sail through the day.

Probably will start the stove later this afternoon as it is supposed to start cooling off. It was sunny here but not clouded over and that makes it feel not quite as warm. Still mighty nice for working outdoors.

Man we are getting spoiled with this weather! It’s so warm out I have the windows down today.

Found a good spot to take lunch too!

Had one pine fire real early this AM, but nice sunny day even though it never got over 51ºF, so solar gain got the south side of the house up to 73ºF
Wind is picking up and changing to from the SE which is cold ocean water so we'll have to see how fast things cool off, if they do.
