We have lots of bald eagles over here and they get huge. It is funny to see tourists get really excited about seeing them especially when the tourists are from parts of the country that don't seem to have them.

No, we weren't. Slow mule deer and jack rabbits,< potent combo. Antelope are normally too fast for the jack rabbits to catch.
First noticed in Douglas, around the 1930's. NYT had an article on them. Not even kidding...... ;)[/QUOTE]

Just wondering. Around here they call Vultures Buzzards, go figure.

I have given up on trying to learn "Dog", just no good with foreign languages. When Max and Neo came back from one of their jaunts earlier Lucy was all wags, so who knows. There hasn't been anything physical when i'm here, just some growling by Neo. He looks a lot happier again today.

    Beetle-Kill ,

I read the article, tried to summarize it quickly as WWW was leaving for work. He said, X?, Y?, and they have Z? and proceeded to a long and genuine laugh. I tried to tell him again tonight that it was real but could not contain my laughter from recalling his reaction, lil joined in and so did he (still in disbelief and blamed firewood hoarders   ) and I ended up laughing so hard I had tears.

My neighbors Yorkie got "Hammered" this morning by a skunk!!! :picard: I'm sorry i'm laughing... :D   I've cleaned our dogs many times because of that!!! He just called me and asked what to do, and I smelled it first, I'm gonna run him over a big can tomato juice and some white vinegar...  I'm glad he didn't get our new pup. I'll set out the "have-a-heart" trap tonight and see if I can't catch and re-locate it...

I was lucky with dogs, never had one stupid enough to get hit by a skunk.

Porcupines, yes - and one dog did it twice; once in general on the nose/face the second time rolling on a dead porcupine. The quills were so deep that only the white tips were above skin. He was a white dog so many of the quills were only found by feel. He was red at the end of quill removal from his neck down to his paw. We found missed quills for weeks in his shoulder.

Ouch!!! and it hurt both of you during the removal. We are very fortunate. No skunks or porcupines on the island.

Just got back from the neighbors house, poor little guy smells "Real bad".... o_O:picard:.... It's not really cold 40ยบ , but washing his dog outside right now isn't much fun! I'm still laughing though....  I can't help it. His Yorkie is so cute but he will go after anything in the yard and he "hates" cats with a passion...
