Appreciate you raining on the parade of a new tractor thread, and understand your comments are directed at others, but purchasing a 30+yo 2wd tractor with FEL has its place - not on my property.

If all anybody wanted was a big heavy fat tractor for dragging logs, no one would be buying these newer machines, surprisingly they are.
Will I be disappointed when I ask a machine 1/2-3/4 the weight of to do what a machine I ran 20yrs ago did - initially yes, then I'll realize I have a tractor that can turn tighter with 4wd so I don't have to call the boss man to get me unstuck and when I push it to rollover limits atleast there is something sticking over my head, oh yeah its fully insured if I tear it up:D

That's what's so nice with the tractor lineup. I only have a few acres, hilly, and i nearly pulled the trigger on the 2501, i liked the bigger chassis, but when i found out i could go just a tad bit smaller with the same loader rating i went that avenue. We had 5' snow in the back, around a shed, another smaller shed, and my long pallet racks with wood. I was able to squeeze my way through busting out all that snow.

Well I was not the one who put up the poll on the bota being sexy or not.

I just commented that I didn't find it sexy nor a safe tractor to own if you have hills on your property with the occonial hole or dirt pile from a ground hog or other critter. Also stay out of the woods with snow on the ground unless you have taken all stumps to ground level.

Even with beet juice in the rear tires I found it goes down hill with a bucket of dry fire wood on the front wheels only. Best and safest to back down dragging The bucket.

I have about 15,000 pounds of wheel weights in my barn and about another 500 pounds of suit case weights. Can't mount them on MY BOTA because the dish of the wheels in a innie and not an outie and the dish is so narrow about the only thing that will fit is for lawn tractors that you can find reasonably priced at lawn tractor selvage yards.

From what one poster stated on needing 1,1000 pounds of rear ballast that is a huge chunk of change at $500.00 per thousand pounds to fit a Bota 3301 wheel dish. about maxes out the 3 point lift capacity too.
Rear lift (at ends): 1985 lbs [900 kg]

I am glad you like your bota just keep the Rops fully extended wear your seat belt and keep your arms inside the fenders if you have any hills.

Also do not post polls if you don't want the real answers.

I've never spent much time on a CUT, but it kinda sounds like the loader ratings on these things is pushing the ragged edge of what the tractor is capable of, unless fully optimized with ballast (no safety factor at all)
The smallest loader that I have spent much time on was a 2020 JD, and it would get light on the rears with a 1000 # round bale on it, but that is a very large bale, and the bale spear was mounted such that the bale was in front of the bucket, so that was a lot of weight hanging way out there!
Matter of a fact, it was so light on the rear that one of my co-workers got ran over (across the torso!) by the LR rear tire one day while moving a bale and only spent 3 days in the horsepital. He stopped to open a fence and the tractor popped out of park right when he stepped off. :jaw:
They had the transmission fixed immediately, not sure if they ever loaded the tires then or not...

I am NOT a tractor expert, BIL owns 350 acre beef farm, neighbor owns 900 acre diary farm. So I've seen a couple.
Neighbor has a older 45 horse Kubota, uses for seeding small tasks and at least 4 JD Big tractors dual wheels front and back.
I think a lot of it has a good analogy with a hammer. If you want to hang a picture, a 12 lb sledge Hammer is not what you want to use. If you want to frame a house you're 6 oz Hammer is not ideal either.

As with any tool, size and maneuverability and ability to do the task needs to be assessed before purchase. Saying that a cut is not a good tool without knowing what the user is going to do with it seems uninformed.
Personally, I have 22 Acres and use another 50. About 3 acres of that is flat the rest has a a ten to 12% grade and I mow brush hog and work it just fine with my tractor.

FYI I put the poll as a joke.

Adjusting tire width is non option with R4s
R1 AGs have thier inherent flaw of small tree stobs taking one out- been there.

Triangle of life - trade traction stability for durability load rating.

Canadian border VT gave the best hammer analogy above

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Most of the tractors that have been mentioned are in the 50hp range. A tractor that size is not going to hold 30 or 40 gallons of hydraulic oil, more like 15 gallons or less. I'm not sure what all you are considering the 3 point assembly, but there is not way it weighs 400 or 500lbs.

A customer picked up his Ford 3000 yesterday. I took some pics of the rear of it before he got it. (It is good running tractor, the sheet metal just looks horrible)

Someone welded a new ball end on and it is not really the right size, but you can get an idea of the lift arm size.

Now here is a Kubota L4240. These tractors are close in HP but the Kubota is Compact Utility Tractor where the Ford is an old school utility. The Kubota is all cast Iron too. The Kubotas tires also hold 20 gallons more of fluid than the Ford.

Tell me what tractor is beefier in the rear.

Most measurements are given with the narrowest tires set all the way in.

Sorry but I don't believe that:rofl:  I'm pretty sure that a 2020 would be considered a real tractor, probably made with real metal and it would not require a ballast:rofl: ;)

    That's a nice little rig basod !

As much as I hate driving my little L2500 it sure is handy for what it's designed for.

Don't believe they can be flipped on the L2501, solid dish rim. If equipped with R1's it is possible but the distance is close to R4's ~1-2" difference from the manual
I have flipped them on an early 2000's JD 2 series with R1's- vastly improved the tractors performance

yes wheel extensions are options...no doubles - who needs them on a 25hp tractor?
I was following up to above party-pooper on how great 2wd 40yo pigs don't compare to CUT's

Why not run duals? You could add a set of R1s to the outisde and the have the best of both worlds, R1's and R4's:rofl:

    now you're on to something
what about spacers between each wheel then I can achieve 96" RWB - it will make the machine super useful:D
