I have some sad news we lost our mate Oscar this morning.
15 years old, he had a good life.
It was pretty rough buying him at dawn.

Lots of Bald Eagles here, they come from the river cliffs inland during the winter to eat road kill and the chicken remains that the farmers spread onto the fields. It's quite a sight when they mantle to protect some food. They are a little bigger than the vultures we have and often hang out with them.

Max is fine with Neo. However something must have happened when i took Max to the vet for his thyroid check. The whole atmosphere here had changed. Neo didn't even say hi to Max and velcroed himself to me instead. He has been growling at the girls ever since, they are very leery about walking past him. At the same time i saw him sleeping next to Pippa earlier. He is friends again with Max. I wonder what the girls did to Neo while i was gone? Lucy and Pippa play very rough and he may have misunderstood? Hope he calms down the girls don't need the stress of being afraid and neither does he.
By the way what do you mean by Jackalope. I only know it as a mythical creature. Or are you referring to the pronghorns that live there?

Interesting about Neo and, you, Max, and the girls. I can say I have always had unusually kind packs, but every time they shunned the new puppy. Have to wonder if your girls were a bit more immediate with correcting him lol :)

We were jesting about jackalopes, made up animal from wyoming of a snow hare with antelope horns on it.

No, we weren't. Slow mule deer and jack rabbits,< potent combo. Antelope are normally too fast for the jack rabbits to catch.
First noticed in Douglas, around the 1930's. NYT had an article on them. Not even kidding...... ;)

Something like this happens every time I remove one member of my pack, although usually short lived, upon return there is always a bit of a head to head, it's a little different depending on the dog, but I can always see it coming, I try not to intervene and just let them work it out because I don't speak "dog" and I really don't know what is going on so any imput from me is likely to just confuse them, I will step in if it gets too physical though.
