I dunno, as I've fell lots of timber in Southeast , Alaska that had over 32 rings per inch of diameter. Ancient stuff. Oldest tree I ever took the time to count rings on was standing verticals for around 1,500 years. A Yellow cedar. Sitka Cyprus, Alaska Cedar. I've fell Sitka spruce and Western Hemlock that were well over 700 years old. I hear people talk about 100 year old trees as being OLD , that is just an infant. But, there ain't no part of me that's a conservationist. I'm a natural resources Extractor !! ;-) +18°F atm
32°F, headed to 50° for a high. Odds and ends, mostly just junk from black locust, American elm, and pecan.
39 here and very windy. Wind woke me up early this morning. I got up and opened the sliding glass door and wow! It sounded for sure like a fright train coming at us...and we don't even have tracks. I thought the train sounded loud before getting out of bed but when I opened that door I was amazed. The temperature was 48 but it fell 7 degrees in the next hour.
Shoveled the 6+ inches of heavy compacted white stuff we got last night. The next three days are supposed to be in the 40's so it'll get all the roads cleared up real quick. Windy today also.
We got about one and a half inches of slushy snow overnight. No need to clear the driveway because we will have temps in the 40's for the next couple of days. Sun is strong now also which helps.
Well it’s wet. Again. Rinse and repeat. For the majority of the next 10 days it looks to be middle 40’s and cycles between above and below freezing at night. Maybe some snow but not gonna stick around. I’m hedging on this being about the last 30 days of serious cold then it gets back to being 50’s-60’s. Sight unseen it’s just a norm that once March hits, temps go steadily up from here. Im having an embarrassing looking split of cedar just doing its weird thing in October.
I wonder if you will have trees down on power lines if its that windy? You and wildwest stay safe. Weve had windy days here as well but just a breeze right now. Today we have about 5 inches of fresh snow to add to our still growing snow pack. I should go out and do some shoveling. Its -2c/28f with lodgepole pine in the stove. Sorry to hear you are soggy FatBoy85! I wont trade you for my snow but maybe if we could find a way to ship some madrone my way....
Oh madrone is good. You’re gonna cook yourself right outta your house if you loaded that stove full of madrona at anything more than 20° LOL!
0 here atm. Site was down last night. -20 here last night Big old snow dog around the moon tonight. I hope we don't get dumped on tonight.
Sitting at -13 C or 9 F right now, and shouldn't get much colder overnight. Loving not having to babysit the stove so much.
