All of these are pure bred dogs.
Little Honey, left for dead on a road. I was going to move her little body out of the road when i realized she was still breathing. The vet only 1 block away wanted to go to a football game and the b... in the front told me he had no time. I parked my car behind his and demanded treatment. The b... had the gull to ask me who would pay. Honey also had parvo and survived it all. She lived with us, had 2 hip replacements and finally died of cancer.
The other one is Chance he came from a Little Rock high kill shelter. They insisted on neutering him sick as he was or we couldn't have him. Their ultimatum was neuter or euthanasia.

The one below is from a puppy mill bust when the local law enforcement was still helping. There were several of them, scared of everything they always stood with their face to the wall. It took a long time to get them to come out of their shell even a little bit.

Turned in because they didn't want him, they would even "waste" the money to feed him.

There are a lot of people like us out there but they are usually the unsung heroes not the big rescues who do a lot of advertising and pay high salaries. The first one we worked with was a cat rescue in Seattle, WA where we used to live. The lady who ran that was awesome, she converted her 3 story house into a cat rescue. And wouldn't you know, new people moved into the neighborhood who hated the idea and ran her off. They actually threatened to evict her. The place was very clean and from outside you really couldn't even tell. Fortunately some volunteers who had the heart and also the money made it possible for her to move onto some acreage. I believe they are still there.
Our rescue group was small, i had the dubious pleasure of having to run the show in my free time. Dubious because dealing with people isn't my strong side. We were all volunteers and put in a lot of our time and own money because the donations were never enough. There are only 4 of us left now and two are 10 years older than myself so you can see its pretty much over. We still have way too many animals between us and more keep showing up. I pretty much just stay out here and take in the occasional stray.
We also worked with a bunch of purebred rescues. The skinny little Weimaraner in the picture above went to a very good Weimaraner rescue where he positively bloomed. They took several of these poor kids from us when we found them.
All of this came back up when we lost Bilbo and started looking through old pictures. It put us in the poor house and nailed us to the ground, no vacations ever in over 20 years. But we wouldn't change it for anything. It's kind of like fire wood hoarding. You don't only do it because it makes sense but you learn to love it. At least that's what you tell yourself when it's freezing cold and you have to go outside and when you get bitten yet again and have to have stitches.:wacky::hair::rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Good for you! I applaud your efforts.
BTW- I looked it up- a "sosandso" in Greek is a very flattering term. But a "so-and-so" in English means you're in good company here.:whistle::rofl:

    I kid, I kid....!

 You're right!! Did not see the fork n horn til you pointed it out!! That said I don't mind him taking it before legal for our protection against the Jackalopes.

It's very interesting to me that the Bald Eagles here look much different and a bit bigger than the ones in Nothern Colorado. :sherlock: Do they look like this down where you are?

Jackalopes are mean. I applaud their demise, even the young ones. But the eagle was wrong, it wasn't a legal one. Eagle- "I DGAF, I'm hungry !!" whatever...

No Eagles here, just Hawks. But, down in Hartsell, the eagles are not much bigger than large ravens. Bald Eagles. The Golden Eagles are massive, scary big but rare.

Stupid question here. What kind of bird is it? Not a Bald Eagle doesn't look right for a Seagull either so....?

Not stupid at all, he took it while driving so not the greatest pic and some odd light, it is a Bald Eagle. Wingspan is like 5' or more, they're HUGE here. We had a couple pairs by my previous home in No Colo over the years, but they are even bigger here. How are Neo and Max?
