I found an ad for oak and walnut on cl, and contact the person in Oklahoma. They're clearing 1000 acres, he's not sure how to price nor am I.

1000 acres:eek: Are you a professional logger? Should be a state forestry guy near him that can advise. He is likely looking to log it for profit. Guessing? Otherwise.
    Zats a cra_load of firewood!

That is mechanized logging at that!!

It all depends upon the tree size. Typically down in Texas and other places like that, they have plenty of areas to clear, but the trees are only 15 feet high or so. I clear land; for myself and as a contractor (part-time), but Maine is different in that our trees are 60 feet high and 300 of them to the acre.

I am not saying that wood is not worth using for firewood, but doing 1000 acres is dependent 100% on tree size. You might be able to mechanically use anything from a ATV, to having to use a hot saw.

I am working on a feller-buncher for trees in the 4 inch range, but that may, or may not help you. You would still need a log trailer like mine to mount it on though.

He sounds like he's trying to clean up his land, pipeline went through this land also. He's doing all the work himself.

I'll post some pics when I get to my computer. My plan is to haul a trailer there and have a look.

So he just wants the downed stuff hauled away, is that it?

Process (buck up) it on his land and get a larger load stacked on your trailer?

Depending on what kind of money your looking at. It looks like a good deal.
