I was at Wally World the other day and saw the dreaded Pennington’s. Noticed the words “ made in Maine” on the corner of the bag so I had to grab some. Any idea whose they are? The upc still comes back as Bio-plus.
I'll speculate that it is Maine's Choice. Which would jive with Pennington's reputation as a wood pellet.
I can tell they are not yours. I've burned quite a bit of MWP! So that leaves what, two other Maine possibilities? They definitely have ample percentage of softwood in the blend.
Your other choices are Corinth or Northeast Pellets. I haven't burned either for years. In fact I don't even see Corinth around anymore. I've heard most of their stuff is going offshore. I also herd they changed hands, so I don't even know if they're operating. I think Bogieb might have nailed it.
I noticed several bags of Corinth near the bottom of one of my stacks in the basement. Burned those several years ago and they were a good pellet. Too bad they are not around as they seemed to get their chit together. IIRC they were 70/30 or possibly 80/20 soft/hard mix.
Just happily finished the last two bags of Corinth yesterday, good riddins they were horrible and they were the softwood version. I have not tried the blended because of how horrible the softwoods were. Unquestionably the worse pellet I have burned this year no to low heat, tons of ash and they are the only pellet that dirtied up my glass on the p43 in a day as with most I could get at least a week before anything appeared and that was subtle at best. Sounds like their blended are much better but I won't be trying them would much rather burn anything. Corinth is available down here at at least three places I know of.
With current OAT hovering in the low 60’s here this evening, there be no pellets roasting... but with some help from ol’ will711 yesterday by PM and his recommendation (plus the Pellet Review section while I waited for the little fella to answer me between trips to his beer fridge ) I picked up a dozen bags of.... Full disclosure: the kid at the Lowe’s loaded them to the flat cart, then to the truck bed, and then my wonderful Fire Flake brought them into the basement I love my wife!!! Supposed to go from 60°F tomorrow to 32° tomorrow night.....thinking the Greenways will get their chance then
I’d still like to find me some EasyBlaze locally, did a search but nothing too close. I’m curious to roast some pellets of the softwood variety. Turman’s is actually not all that far from me (maybe an hour, and a coworker’s family gets their pellets from there) so maybe I’ll have a look at them?
Well, if you and yer honey do any southward driving, bring a trailer and we’ll make the short trek together
LaCrete in the upstairs stove and Northern Max in the cellar, starting to cool down quick after a warm week. Kind of nice to reduce the consumption of the hungry Harman's for a while but also kind of sad as I enjoy nothing more than after a long day at work coming home and sipping on some fine Bourbon while sitting in front of the stove....
Well if I could add to Dpopps Review of Greenways, I would at least second the note about ash cake.... overall good heat, took a little while to figure the air...glass got an amber appearance about 30-40 minutes in from cold start, but then came clean a tick past 1 1/2 hours in. Of the three brands of pellets I’ve had access to, Presto Logs have been the best Shoulda bought more!!!
Well surprise surprise the Inferno super premium are toasting like a charm, no fines ash good and heat is great. Must have really got the QC in order as the quality of their pellet is great and it’s on par (or at least what I am burning) with the likes of let’s say Eagle Valley. I would certainly choose them over a blend pellet at the right price but what the hardware store where I got them sold them for they are still $20 bucks cheaper. Keep an eye open for them I will if a good price comes up I will grab them. So Inferno super Super premium in the 68 and Northern max in the 43. On deck and a 1/3rd loaded are the Vermont’s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
