My meaning was poking fun at Texas. Texans tend to get somewhat over zealous with their opinion of the size of their state. So we Alaskans tell them that if they keep runnin their gob, we'll cut Alaska in half and make Texas the 3rd largest state ;-). It was a poke at Texas not Germany. Sorry if it came across wrong.

Around 3 cords, thats about all i cut this year, actually the plan was to do alot more.... time and weather werent on my side.
I see you use both a Fiskars and conventional heavy maul. I do the same. The Fiskars does 90% of the work, but every now and then it opens up a crack but gets stuck in it swing after swing. That's where the extra weight and width of the maul (mine's a Bahco) does the business. Sometimes I just use the maul for a while for the heck of it. The wooden handle and the heft are more satisfying (but more tiring). How do you use your two? I remember when you bought that "big yeller" but I can't find the post now. Has it lived up to expectations?
Im nae stranger to the west - thats how i stumbled across. One of my favorites, i also love chewin the fat and rab c nesbitt. Me and my Pals on a wee hill walk... ended up at Fyne Ales Brewery later on. Had tae pick some bagpipes fir the wee video - camera is shakin terrible.
I prefer the axe, the big oxe is just for pounding wedges. I just got a thing for decent tools. My buddy came along that day so, to help me with the splitting, i let him use the axe and used the maul myself. I can imagine its works alot better in half dried logs or dried ones. The 1 feet diameter logs werent a problem but at bigger ones it didnt to much to them. So with a little more brute force they got done anyhow. But the quality is mint and mibes its just my technique that needs some improvement.
I can see the Cobbler from my house, small world isn't it, would love to visit Germany some time, Holland has been the nearest to you.
A good place to be id say. I like it upthere, dont get the chance to visit too often these days but its always worth it. Holland, so you had a 30min laugh while passing through? Haha just kidding they got some nice places and good people there. But very flat and open range, even for a flatlander like me. Where in Krautland youre aiming for?
Midwinter keep em coming I always admire those mad pictures. In October hauling a wee bit of wood backhome from the hiddenstash, even came across this IBC. That was 2 days ago, bit of Fir, Cherry and Black Locust - could burn it straight away.
