My brother swears by birch bark tea. Dry and grind the birch bark up and make tea from it. Lots of good things in it.

One of the guys, Jessie Holmes, on the Natgeo show, Life Below Zero, was collecting chaga. He lets it dry and then grinds it to a powder. He claimed it's full of antioxidants, and makes a tea out of it. It was during the show from last week.

He climbed white birches, and chopped off the chaga "growth", then picked it up off the ground.

I had never heard of chaga before then.

    Me too.

Googled how to harvest and they say only take it in the winter, off of live trees then dry it by (not in) a heat source (hey, we all have wood stoves or pellet stoves that would be perfect). Or, you can use a dehydrator at 120-125*

I'll see if I can gather some chaga next time I'm out in the woods.
