We seem to be stuck in somewhat of a deep freeze for this time of year in my neck of the woods. I thought I'd google the weather in some "cold" places, just to say it's not so bad, it's always worse somewhere else. Sure shocked me to check out temps in Alaska and NWT and such, to see weather milder than ours! It's as if the weather gods flushed, and it ended up in the middle of Saskatchewan. I know weather is influenced by the jet stream and mountain ranges and such, but wow blew my mind. Everyone in a winter heat wave? Here I'm sitting in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Currently -30 C and dropping. One hour south, the weather moderates to -23, but yet another 2 hours south, is still -23 C. So going the other way, north of me, you can go about 500 miles and the weather is, you guessed it, about the same as here. I thought, surely the NWT and Yukon gotta suck, right? Well, they're warmer (Yellowknife and Whitehorse) than here. Same with the major cities I checked in Alaska, warmer than here. That's just weird. Can you guys please take your weather back?
Well, some of the cold weather sneaked over the mountains from you and ended out here. We have cold, clear weather with below freezing temps for this week. Definitely not as cold as you and you would laugh to see what we got but it is colder than we usually get.
I remember one year following the Iditarod on the internet and it was colder here than in Alaska for almost the entire race. They even had grass patches they had to traverse. We still had enough snow on the ground to send them some that year.
We were -37*F late December 2014, coldest place on earth at that time, including antarctica. Wind chills past -50*s. Well over a 100* difference between outside and inside And sorry, we've had a pretty mild winter here too, but if company loves misery, I think New England has had a tough winter.
All the time. Google has a full screen weather app that makes it especially easy Weatherspark is great for checking weather tendencies/averages for someplace you might want to go in the future, or avoid as the case may be. Average Weather in Prince Albert, Canada, Year Round - Weather Spark
We did have a chilly couple months but we had an usually warm month before those. And very little snow. Had 4-5" of snow Saturday and it's going to be 70 tomorrow . That's crazy!
I like to check out Mount Washington NH from time to time. Cold is one thing but it's the wind there that's crazy.
I enjoy seeing weather info from other places. This isn't temp related but it is winter related. Redfield is down about 50" from last year but there's still time to catch up. Redfield Sees 25+ Feet Of Snow So Far This Season
