Yeah the Chromebook For Dummies book is more for someone going from Windows or Apple vs someone new to everything. He'll get there, the lights are slowly starting to come on.

I had to disable the touchpad and hook up a mouse cause he kept resting his hand on it and it reacts to every touch. Once I did that he seemed to start to understand that program windows on the Chromebook work just like Windows program windows.

I seem to activate more than 1 letter at a time when using touch screens it has always been extremely frustrating for me big paws.

I try about most any computer related toy I can. I'm 71 and just loaded my house with Alexa in every room and now the Echo show. What a toy that is. I also have wifi home monitoring which I can view from anywhere. Sometimes it takes me hours to get thing connected the way I want, but I am not shy about calling their tech support. I even have plugs that monitor and turn things on or off with verbal commands. I have everything back up and also backed up to the cloud. Nice way to manage appointments etc. If my wife should fall (again) if she wants she can call me or 911 from where ever she is by just asking. If I get a notice, I can ck the phone and view what is going on, even talk through every device. I don't have visual monitoring in the bed or bath. I do have verbal access to anywhere in the house.

I literally don't see straight so can impressively spell out some words in an alien language all as I believe I'm hitting the correct "buttons" on my phone. Loved my slide phone that had a mini key board because at least I could feel where the keys were versus just seeing them.

I have a large cell phone, 17" screen lap top and desktop with a 24" screen just so I can see them WITH MY READERS ON (over my contacts even). Don't think I need another electronic doo-dad like a tablet since I can barely use my Kindle because of the small screen size.

Copier interfaces are starting to be geared toward smart phones as well. Add to this the PC interfaces :picard:

I am a dinosaur that does not need a dam phone attached to me at all times.

My brother moved to Kingston last year and we are having similar but different (add a stroke 3 years ago and now balance issues/falling to the mix) issues with my dad near Boston. He insists on not leaving the house, yet his balance and health are deteriorating. You two could get together and start a support group-or at least have a few beers and trade stories :picard:

Along with car radios that are now video touch screens. Glad the steering wheel controls are there or I'd be driving off the road trying to change stations or the volume.

Talk to me or savemoney about balance it can be a case of medications, even if the med is not doing it the meds can drive one or both pressure readings too damm low when dosages get changed every med I take has such a warning.

Absolutely, as it says in my avatar info box. Anyone who's never been here should wander around the area sometime......really is a gorgeous place to live.

What a crashfest. Amazingly, I still had 2 out of 3 of my fantasy drivers running at the end, given what was going on.

Thanks. The woman we hired to be with him 3 days a week is a retired (but still licensed) nurse and she keeps an eye on that type of stuff. He also has visiting nurses that come in regularly. The stroke was a pretty severe one, add the previous stroke and heart attacks with his age-he is 84 years old.
