I had a front receiver welded up to The Great White Hope, use it for pulling tops outta' the thickets. Pretty handy, as sometimes the woodlot is too thick to turn the truck around for using the rear hitch for strapping and pulling.
That way when your in the wood and not paying attention and can't see it and maneuvering in tight quarters you cut sharp or to close and or pull foward too much to back up into a hole you smash your rack and saws!! Haha
Pulling my buddy's Chebby out, I mentioned Dodge don't have factory hooks 'cause they don't need no stinking front tow hooks!!
I can't say all the years back. But I have a 2016 Ram1500 4x4 as my work truck. It has 2 big front tow hooks?
Ahhh, the GWH is a retired fleet truck, stripped down, no frills tree basher, '96 model. (was my weak attempt at chebby bashing lost in translation?)
Yea I got the poke!! Just pointing out mine does. And mine is a stripped down model. Well you know what it does have the off road package. And a backup cam but that's not the body that's just dash trim I guess. Other than that no extra badges, plastic floor, cloth seats, 6 cyl. Does have power windows and locks but I think you have to special order even the tradesman model without them. My truck is the tradesman trim.
I like them Dodge trucks. My old truck is beat up and bent but stihl a good one. Just had the tranny re-built, new ball joints, track bar and brake lines, 10 ply skins. 318 engine, not using any oil the a/c and heater work well,,gotta' front axle seal leaking a little,,
For years I loved that body style...started when Walker Texas Ranger drove one...I think just before it's release or right there same year. I was a kid when that body style came out a few years from drivng. I loved it, was may fovorite truck for awhile. I am kind of tired of that body style at this point and no longer am fond of it, dodge I guess has it as their signature shape now I guess cause it's been with us since what 1993? In various itterations.
My honest opinion on those 2nd Gen rams? They aren't ugly, but they are the kind of truck you don't worry about a dent or scrape on too much cause damage doesn't detract from their appearance. Ideal work truck. Something special about a mediocre looking, well running but cosmetically damaged old workhorse. Some trucks just fit that bill. The 2019 ram finally has that signature look toned down somewhat......and they actually dropped the cross hair grille
I have been a fan of the new chevys say since like 2014. To me that truck looks good. I can afford one but just saying. Ford has a good looking truck esp the new Superduty.
The Great White Hope is '96 model, beat up bent, dented and rusted,,heck, it could have the clap for all I know, but it's a good 'un. I've spent some money on maintenance cause I'm too broke for newer.
Scored 3 nice loads of Ash this, cut several down. Left my cuttin buddy's fairewood on site. Weather permitting, gonna do the same next week. (I work Sat, Sun, Mon.)
I like your style. The only thing about putting money into such a rig is, gotta make sure there's no hidden structural rust. Other than that.....I say keep on trucking.
yep I agree with you, I've had it since 2007, it doesn't use any oil, the air conditioning stihl blows cold, I installed a decent 4 speaker stereo Truck is solid, I've always done all the repairs, ie: brake lines, hub bearings, ball joints, axle shaft u-joints, brakes, shocks, oil changes, flushed msot all the dino oil so I could replace with synthetics...fuel pump..re-routed the vacuum lines for transfer gear case to front drive axles, to keep them from getting snagged in the brush..ran auxiliary light to the rear bumper for working after dark. Hired the transmission rebuild because it's been 1984 since totally rebuilding a transmission on my own. Some of the stuff I've done for preventive maintenance,.some I've done because I work it pretty hard. The old rig doesn't look like much but it will run down the hiway at 60 mph plumb and true, wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. It does have a front axle seal that leaks,,haven't needed 1 full quart since I discovered the leak a couple years ago. One of these days I'll pull the front differential and axles and replace that stinking seal.
Can you take some pics of that? My 94 Dodge is missing the vacuum lines, and nobody can show me how they run or what size&length they are Thanks Charles
