Sheriff. That is wonderful I commend you for your service."
My son has served as a Deputy, Volunteer Firemen, Medic on the county EMS, and has worked undercover catching pedophiles.
He quit the EMS to work full time as a Mortician.
Last year both our local EMS and police started courting him to come back to them. He is now full time captain at EMS, part time officer at the police, and part time mortician. He was able to negotiate a lucrative contract with EMS. He had to choose between EMS and the police.
Both EMS and the police department are staffed with young people and the leaders are planning on retiring in the next year or so..Because of his experience and education, I look for him to be Chief of EMS in a year or high ranking in police.

Maintenance Technician. I do a little of everything including IT work, drywall, electrical, carpentry, landscaping, and snow removal in the skid loader.

But mainly I repair lifts and do weekly/monthly inspections.

33 years in the auto indrustry working on bad cars GM mostly.
Drove semi for a bit coast to coast pulling a reefer.
Farm work till dad stopped and I married.

Retired now and do not know how I every found the time to go to a pay check job. No bee keeping doesn't take all that much time to care for 100 colonies.

I also mow lawns in the summer and mow ditches for people. Blow snow in the winter and repair stuff.

7th generation logger. Started a firewood business when I was 16 with the help of my dad. While building it up to self sustaining levels , I did stints as a carpenter/steeple jack , meat cutter ,timber buyer, and worked on a friends dairy farm. Over the years the business has diversified into stump to stove processing, sawmill ,log export, biomass supplier , land clearing , mulch, topsoil, coal sales, waste/recycling hauling , demolition, brokered/GC'd many different services when we couldn't complete them ourselves, online parts supplier ,etc.
Peak of the forest product related business was 2001-2007 and has been a matter of reinventing the wheel ever since . A sell off of part of the waste business, sawmill and start up of online sales just before the recession 08 hit kept things rolling through 12-13 when the crack house craze hit and demolition took off. The majority of business now is waste hauling with some timber sales focusing on logs we can export through a partner and land clearing. It's been a wild and profitable ride . I pray daily thanking the lord for giving me the foresight to diversify rapidly. The only way I remained highly profitable through all the economic cycles.

I spent 26 years in printing, 22 as a pressman. Got really burned out with it and decided to switch gears. I’ve been the only mechanic at a used sport bike dealer for the past 2.5-3.
