What do LaCrete sell for up there? Curious if they are cheaper where the transportation should be less.
That's my target price or lower and I typically can get it. If I can't, I wait. I need a ton to be in the $205-210 range to hit that target as we have tax. That puts it at $4.20/bag -- which I think is a hecka good deal to warming my house.

Go figure kinda makes you wonder about the shipping thing but not sure how far they are from you Ivan but surely not as far as they are to me and I get them at $280 a ton in season. Do you ever see Cubex or Norther Max near you ?
I still have Bears in my stovie. Good news is I did fill her up again. But... I'v'e got North Idaho logs and other wood fuels burning in my wood stove. Fact is, I have to burn out some wood in the storage area to make room for more pellets.
Broke open another pallet of 802's from the garage. Got 3 ton of LaCrete in the basement already but holding on to those and using the 802 first (I like LaCrete better). Hoping 1 ton 802 plus about 15 bags of Crabbe will get me through the season. That will leave me with 1 ton 802 plus the Crete and in good shape for next year-4 ton so likely add another ton or two. If I need to maybe get some big box stuff to finish this season-hopefully by the time I need em the prices will be down to get rid of them from their stock.
Warming up North Country back in the hopper with the last few bags of Ambiance in the P43 then Northern Max it shall be.
Love the Heat and flame these North Country's put out, bright bright yellow flame with intense heat coming from it . The Good now the less than good, seems after burning them again they are cranking out ash and yes light and fluffy ash. For the most part after burning Northern Max for a week I was able to use only a stiff paint brush to remove the majority of the darker almost gray lining in the firebox. Two weeks back cleaning I had a difficult time removing the tan coating after burning NC for the week, it really sticks to everything and is difficult to remove. Either G or TT had mentioned this about the 802's recently. As someone(I think daffonce) mentioned these are characteristics of burning softwood verse hardwood, but just listing my experience with these two brands. Glass staying clean is about equal with these two but with the coating and the ash I described above after a week of burning the NC still seemed to be burning a bit better in the dirty stove. By the end of the week LaCrete will be up next, while it will be warm and the stove will not be cranking I actually like to see how pellets perform when they are being burned at a lower rate than cranking. How clean they burn at the lower rate to me is a good indication of their overall quality . Really really like the heat these NC crank out and they smell simply wonderful and brings me back to when I was framing custom homes... well to be more specific framing the interior partitions as the exterior walls, floor joist, stairs, and rafters were all structural Doug Fir a different smell but pleasant as well.
I had that issue years ago with Vermonts. The 802 clean up from the firebox walls pretty easy. The buildup from 802 I have is carbon in the burnpot. I dont think it softwood vs hardwood as much as the species of wood. Also what any given brand acts like in your stove and setup actors in. Some brands have more batch issues than others. LaCrete seems to be very consistent in their product. I burned 4-5 ton of NC about 5 years ago and loved them. The following year price went up to the point they were not a bargain over Lacrete any longer so I dont have any further experience with them. Regarding high volume of light fluffy ash-for me if it knocks down to nothing it isnt an issue since it is mostly air.
Thanks for clarifying that G at home sick nearly brain dead more so than usual. I only tried 802's briefly last year maybe a dozen bags and don't recall how they faired but do remember they smelled great and gave off great heat. NC's are the same price as LaCrete's around here at this time anyways, the carbon buildup varies little with any of the pellets I have burned and do not remember how it was with the 802's. Interesting comment about it being the species of wood, will have to experiment more with other hardwood as both Ambiance and Northern Max that I have is a mixture of a variety of hardwoods including Oak, Maple, Beech, Cherry,Birch, and Ash.
