How do you keep the pool clean. I have to dump ours out every 3 days because of Mosquito lava. My dog won't go in it if she sees any bugs swimming in the water.

Here is an interesting tale to tell. Earlier this afternoon, I was taking a nap on my bed. Molly (black lab) came to me and started poking my arm, she wouldn't stop. So I got up . She picked up her stuffed toy and went straight to the outside door. In the living room I could hear the smoke alarm low battery signal beeping. I let her out with Max, (other lab) I changed the battery. For a while she didn't want back in, and that is very unusual for her. About another 10 min. and she was agreeable to return back in with her stuffed toy. Dogs know a lot more than we ever give them credit for.

That's funny, my dogs dip for the bugs and eat them. I use Mosquito Dunks by Summit but i crumble them up for the dog pool so they can't eat them. i use those all over the place in bits and pieces, they work great. Much better than nasty chemicals and cheaper it takes very little. I even use them in areas where i know water will stand after rain. We hardly ever see mosquitoes any more. I wished they would sell them as granules.
On the other hand the pools have to be cleaned quite often because the dogs track so muck dirt in. One of their favorite things when they are wet is to role in the dust and then of course go back in the pool or shake when i happen to stand next to them. I have put small outlets at the bottom because i can't lift them when they have water in them.

thanks for the ideas, both for bug control and draining the pool. With two labs, the pool is a must have item.
She really is. I have PTSD and get into a numb funk. Just sit and stare for long periods. My Molly will come along and start her poking to get my attention. Then I start petting her and get moving.
when I go to bed, she goes on the bed, but next to my feet. Max lays on his dog bed next to my bed. Never know where the cats settle down to. They move about a lot during the night.

My dogs always disliked either the alarm going off (testing) or the low battery chirp.

They make the Summit Mosquito Dunks as granules now www.amazon.com/Summit-Responsible-Solutions-Mosquito-Bits  can't get the link to work. Just put Summit mosquito bits into Amazon search.
Make sure to get them out before the mosquitoes start and redo them after really heavy rains.

Any recall of when you last posted it here? I remember it. Was it submitted on the FHC 2018 calendar pics thread?
