What the heck I’m working on a Stihl ms170
With a bad fuel line simple right?

Nop not at all original line was dry rotted and broken right where it went through tank to the carb. The kit I ordered was the wrong kit so the resent the right kit. I get the right kit and the fuel line is broken in the exact same spot.... Seller ships another one at no charge and is all appolagies.guess what!!!

Now the replacement shows up from eBay and it to is broken in the same spot. There shipping takes forever and they just keep sending me junk!

Stihl dealer down the road says they can’t get the parts for the saw unless I’m a certified repair shop?

What the heck am I missing? Is this dealer a joke or is there some kind of policy change on Stihls end?

I ordered another one off eBay today from a different seller and sent the bad one back. I’ve never had such trouble with parts let alone Stihl there easy to get!

Go to a different dealer, the one you went to is full of it. OEM is the way to go with Stihl fuel lines, the aftermarket lines are garbage and don't last long.

Guess I'd also be a bit frustrated. Poor dealer there for sure.

Yes if you can. Let me know how much. The two Stihl dealers near me both said they only sell parts to dealers when I asked. :loco:

Toro ( or parant co. ) bought Boss plows- new edict from corporate, that you can only get parts from your designated dealer. that for me is a 45 min drive one way vs a dealer 15 mins from me. more pasture droppings.

Yep, OEM fuel lines only! I had the same issue with my 260, tried 2 after market and neither worked. Luckily I have 2 dealers in town, one wasn't interested in ordering for me, the other had one in stock! I guess I got pretty good practice at changing fuel lines!

Huh? I wonder if they only sell bars & chains to dealers as well, they're "saw parts". I'll order it Monday, I assume they stock it.

Wow your Stihl dealers are full of it. I have been to two dealers here one in Cheyenne and one in Laramie and both will sell parts with no issues. Now there service department is a different story.

What gets me is that I have repaired dozens of Stihl saws both mine and for others and not once has there been a problem with eBay parts.

These parts are junk with the exception of the carb it works great.

Dealerships usually sell to me no issue but then I haven’t tried going to a dealer in a while.

I should be doing a lot of things:rofl:

Attic is getting a small break till tomorrow I am still a little to weak to crawl around up there today. This flu sickness has slowed me to a crawl.

That and I’m running a few things through my head that need to be done up there. It’s a carpenters nightmare the way it’s designed.

I have no trouble buying parts from my Stihl dealer, in fact I bought an oem Zama carb for a 170 a couple years ago and they had it in stock.

That's just crazy! All of it! Never heard of a dealer that wouldn't sell you parts...if you were a dealer you'd get your own parts! :hair: Nuts, just nuts...

I'd go to another dealer and get a fuel line. I put an AM fuel line on a 290 and almost 1 year exactly I had to replace it. I would also let stihl know about this dealer not wanting to sell you parts.

I think an anonymous call to Stihl corporate might be in order. They might not be dealers long if they keep that BS up and Stihl finds out.
