From around 8:30 am to 5 pm. Unless its real cloudy like snowing . we r gaining over 5 minutes a day tho.
-16c/3f right now. Woke up to freezing rain on everything and the roads were slick, semis putting chains on, school buses werent running. Being self employed I stayed home until noon. It was interesting how it was -10c/14f here and in the town 2o minutes away it was +4c/39f. No one was killed thankfully, our highways have taken enough of our citizens so far this winter, the most recent being three souls, a husband and wife and a trucker driving the other vehicle. Highway driving on the skating rink was 40-60 km per hour this afternoon. Larch keeping the house warm. Im in shorts in front of the wood stove watching some megadeth on youtube.
Sitting at -20 C feels -31 C, or -4 F feels -24 F. Just can't seem to shake the wind this year for some reason. Poplar in the reactor.
Looks like the snow is almost done. Soon I'll be out there shoving it around a bit. Had to take a picture of some cardinals in the apple tree. Second picture has both male and female cardinal. In the picture it doesn't look like it is snowing but it is still coming down; just not as fast.
Sitting here at 20f OAT, 75 inside, am I the only one that feels my temps are for sissies now that Cold Trigger Finger and Rope keep posting these 40 below numbers..
-21c/-6f right now under very blue skies. The latest snow/ice storm has past so now we can get to work on cleaning up. I just loaded the stove with lodgepole pine.
Backwoods Savage You are not the only ones who enjoy seeing cardinals in an apple tree. We seem them all the time in the winter, along with blue jays and junco's
Same here Sav One says up to a foot this weekend and another says a half foot? Don't really need any of it as its been snowing since last weekend. Only -5c right now and got the elm brewing nicely.
10f oak slabs burning .. Listen to this I had a buck and a Doe and 2 fawns laying 50 feet from the boiler watching me put wood in the boiler . I live in a oak tree woods . And they laid there like they own the place. Heat550 Hawks and eagles and we have about 100 wild turkeys roaming around. Rabbits . Most deer I seen is 35 deer across road from me. I think eagles are watching the turkeys . Waiting for one to drop. I have some critter peeing blue . There eating some berry. There's blue pee spots here and there. Take the camera next time out Heat. Had a guy from the other side of the world move beside us back when we lived in town and he had to grow grapes. Whole side of our white sided house was nicely covered with blue and purple bird crap.
20degrees black locust and silver maple going. Had about 6 inches of snow last night and today. Everybody have a nice weekend!
Westie checking out all them turkeys. 4f dropping fast oak slabs burning . Heat Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk
That is the sort of thing we love. Not the blue pee and not the turkeys, but the deer and eagles and other critters.
23 here, feels warmer without wind and with generally moist air. Red maple still turning the trick. Had to have Mrs Papi load a few pieces as I got stuck at work for an extra four hours - glad to have smaller splits in the stacks for days like this! This was her first loading of the year, and hopefully her last - the extra effort to make sure smaller splits are available paid for itself.
I wish my wife would load the stove. We would save a lot more money on the heating bill. After she burned her self once she said never again.
3f slabs are burning .. Now you might not think this is not much of a fire . Draft fans are off . I can not take a picture with fans on and door open . There's 2-150 cfm fans one on each end of stove. It lights up the rain cap cherry red .. so I have fans choked off 1/2 way. Crazy world of slab burning ..yes them flames are really white. Heat550 Taming Dragons takes burnt hair and patience. Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk
28.1ºF outside, light snow Just got the stove going again with pine just before supper, two chunks of pine and 3 splits of red oak going right now.
