    Nice Tractor Score.

I am a John Deere guy (yellow...not Green), and the 440 makes for a nice tractor from what little I know of them. (I am of the John Deere 1010 era, on up).

I know a lot of parts from a John Deere 440 dozer can be applied to a John Deere 440 tractor, BUT not all. That allows for additional parts making them easier to fix. John Deere parts from the dealership are crazy expensive however, one thing I dislike about John Deere's.

Tractors are not overly hard to fix, a lot of it is just finding out where to get parts cheaply. I can get hydraulic hoses 5 minutes from my house, but they are double in cost then driving 40 minutes away. I know a place that will rebuild starters for a flat fee of $65 plus parts. The last time I went in they rebuilt it for free because it only needed a solenoid. Knowing places like that saves a person money.

Be careful with bucket hooks... I have repaired 2 different customers damaged loader arms because ONE hook on ONE side was used to pull hard. This will cause the opposite sides cylinder to try and twist the loader arms, then a crack starts. Also with fork attachments make sure you center the load on forks that are centered on the loader.

Can you retro fit a 3 point hitch to it ? Does it have a pto like a farm tractor ??
Considering I spent $3400.00 on my 4 wheeler when I bought it used a few years ago. And it don't pick up nuthin. I would say you got a good deal. Obviously you should cut out and replace that too short bubble gum fix job on the right hand loader arm. But, if your a welder that will be easy pie. Or at least doable.
In Maine that is called a Foah foahtee witha loadah. ;-)

If you were in Glennallen I'de trade ya and throw in boot on my 4 wheeler.

Here is a picture of my Ford. You can barely make out the hooks I put on the loader.

I put the pole in the ground with the loader on my tractor by wrapping the chain around the pole and using the hooks. The pole was 18 ft and the I dropped it into a hole that was 3 1/2 ft deep. It was for my weather station you see on top.

You can probably don't need a plate for the bucket. A little flat stock and some cutting and you can make your own. IMO forks are the best attachment for a loader. You could convert a truck plow for use with the loader too.

Hey when you have 50 saws a person has to do something with them.

My wife knows how many I have and I think she just gave up on it. She does realize though that those saws keep her nice and toasty during the winter and just lets me play with my toys.
After 44 years we do not get to excited over who has the most toys.

50+ saws in 44 years of marriage, that would only be a little over 1 a year. That does not sound bad
