My Dad leased a group of fields that had been sugar beet fields. Did a lot of work refurbishing the fields . Plowing, harrowing , fertilizing and seeding in Timothy and alphalpha.
Dad got out of the hay business and apparently no one else leased the fields. The land owner must not have liked nice wide open spaces. He didn't even run a mower over the place once a year .

After reading about Lodgedtree's issues with property tax, it's a bit surprising that landowners would be so willing to let potentially income producing ground lay idle.

That landowner was a retired NYC fireman . He was just glad to be OUT of new York.
Back then Long range shooting hadn't come into being . So.

Well, last week was warm and I thought Spring had arrived. Certainly the gravel parking lot in town was starting to green up so I decided to get a jump on it this year and spray it down before it was a mess. The neighbors had had some tree trimming done, so I took the long box and asked them if I could load some up. They were happy to get rid of it, said they had told the tree guy to take the whole tree down but he'd worked one day and then left. I left my number, told them to call me if the guy ever came back to take the rest of it down.

Got few pieces of American Elm out of it, maybe someday a lot more. Just depends if we have the time to go in if/when the tree guy comes back.

Question: Is it acceptable protocol to keep using this thread for new pictures, or am I suppose to start new ones now and then?

Ok, you want pictures, I'll give you pictures ;)

I did finally take the time today to go back for the trunk from that ash tree I dropped earlier. Slice and dice, then scoop and load. It's fun to take my toys to the woods. 2018-17.JPG 2018-18.JPG 2018-19.JPG

I couldn't fit all the pieces on the forks at once, had to go back for the rest with the new log tongs. I kinda like them!! 2018-20.JPG

And while I was at the wood lot, I see another ash tree half came down recently. The very first picture in this thread actually shows that tree while it was still up, on the left side of the picture.

So, while I've got the tractor there, may as well load up the some more! :saw: :saw:

I'm pretty sure this violates several owners manuals, but it worked so well. :tree:

That's kinda a load for that trailer.

    2018-25.JPG
But I could pull the some more out for easy cutting later. :tractor:

Tractors we have aplenty, at least, of a certain vintage: Ya gotta do what you gotta do. . . .

Now, proper wood handling implements for the tractors is a different story. :quad:
