I love commercials! I need time to put wood in the stove and get a drink. Later, I turn the stove down and pee. Then the cycle continues !

Perhaps this is all true but for kicks I've watched commercials when in places where they always have a tv going. People laugh. I'm sorry but perhaps my sense of humor is a bit different. I just don't see anything funny about them. Stupid? Yes. Funny? No. And yes, to satisfy my curiosity I watched a few SB commercials. Did not change my mind at all. Now my wife, on the other hand, will watch every commercial if she is watching tv.

It is not only you. I too am getting discussed about all the advertising.
In our day, the advertisers would brag about their product telling us why we should choose their product. Today, a lot of dancing, rapping and other stupid stuff. At the end, they show their logo. What the heck are they selling not to think what they paid for the commercial.
I remember commercials were a minute long. In the last year or so, two to three minutes of commercials. Towards the end of the show, 2 minute of commercials, a minute of show followed by another 2 minutes of commercials.
Yes Dennis we are old fashion.

I didn't watch Supper Bowl or any NFL this year because of the kneeling during the National Anthem. My own personnel NFL protest. We watched Puppy Bowl.
For the last couple of years, I have not found the commercials to be extremely funny.

I'm glad I am not alone-I kept asking my fiancée what the commercials were about and what were they trying to sell.
Want me to buy a Chevy truck over a Ford? Then tell me what is better about a Chevy-not pictures of people driving over sand dunes or something like that, with music playing.

I am not TV buff either, but there are some things I do find entertaining. For those, I often record them, then watch them where I can FF the adds etc. Makes watching those shows more desirable.
I have two 27 inch cured screens to my desktop. I can run one thing on one side and something else like this forum on the other. Normally I try to pick something out from Netflix, Hulu or Prime. Most of my tv viewing is for Cops or Live PD. I also like Fox news Morning show. That is about the only show I watch live.

My wife works in advertising and it helps us pay our bills. I don’t complain about advertising. :)

A big part of the game is ridiculous commercials, one of the reasons people who don’t normally watch football watch.

Super bowl ads are not your run-of-the-mill ads you see for a normal game. Some get funny or good, others...not so much. Same goes for the regular season. It’s all about the stage. Most super Bowl ads don’t sell a product holistically like in the regular season but they sell a message.
It’s either subliminal or obvious. Others sell services as service is sellable. At $5 million dollars per 30 second clip of time, that’s just the time. You sell a message more than a product people are going to remember a message. If it were to sell a car its best to unveil a new concept rather than just sell a car for 24,995. A teaser if you will. This 30’second blip does not include any costs of what it takes to make the commercial so a company is going to look to make it odd or obscure than static as we often see on tv.

I don’t watch tv often,I watch Netflix. But the point is that I spend time watching without those damm commercials as that’s just daft in my mind. But they are trying to bring the large amount of viewers to see their name because it’s the most watched televised sporting event in the United States. Most often it’s because people are glued to the tv where they often aren’t.

I dont mind commercials for this reason too, its always a good breaking point to get up and do some stuff. And if I'm gonna be a little longer than the commercial I just pause it and if I end up being behind you can just fast forward through the next block of commercial.

Its a little ridiculous that we have advertising on a service we pay so much money for...I expect ads on free services such as YouTube, but with the cost of cable TV you think itd be commercial free.

For the most part, the commercials failed this year, IMO. May have been a few that were OK, but man were there ever a lot about movies, and whats on TV later that evening. Kinda screams that they didn't sell all their advertising slots.
