Got out as the weather was warmer. Still cold enough that the ground was solid and i could skid out some logs with my little tractor. Sawed up some poplar logs, half is going to be used to make firewood skids, the other half is going to be for paneling in the upstairs part of my cabin. The scrap will probably be firewood for my dad. We actually got 50 more feet of skids nailed together.
Waste not, want not! Firewood skids plus panelling plus poplar slab firewood, and no trip to HD, love it!
For some reason, this particular tree had a really nice white tone to it. We kept the bottom of the log for paneling and the top, which had some rot in the sap wood, was used for skid wood.
Around here, poplar and aspen are referred to as the same. Milling aspen results in a fuzzy lumber. Carry on.
