I am pretty sure I would not like that device. I love splitting wood, and hate posthole digging. This is too much like posthole digging.

On the good side, it would help me get the drywall done quicker!

I have to admit that it's interesting. But as others mentioned, it reminds me of my T-post hammer, and while it does the job it is designed for, if I had a tractor I wouldn't use it.

I have 1/2 share(myself and best friend split cost) of a hydraulic splitter which is not only faster and more convenient, but my wife will run it and split wood as long as I stage the rounds for her.

I show her that and she'll be laughing till after the Superbowl is over.

Yeah no thank you. I had the piston style one just one handle and that’s ok and all but you’re actually required to put more force into the round this way. Multiple times. If there’s no weight in driving the wedge it doesn’t have that inertia coefficient the same way. Great looking product but a maul still beats this. However getting stuck wedges out if logs this would prove its worth.

Looks like your wrists would take way more of a pounding using this rather than an Axe or a Maul where the shaft absorbs much of the force of impact. Nice idea though.

Look like it'd be easier than a wedge and sledge to bust open big rounds...if it works...I'd prolly try one but not for +$300

The power stroke with a maul or a sledge starts in the feet and goes all the way to the wrists. Properly swung, the whole body generates power. The mail starts at full extension overhead and you generate power all the way until and even after making contact with the round. With this, you get maybe 2 feet to generate power with just the arms, maybe a little bit of the legs. I’m not built for that

Yeah, definitely you are right. T-post driving is right up there with the post hole digging. Both are surefire ways to induce pain.

:hair:Yep I hate digging posts and that’s basically what this is. I’d cuss that thing first then break it and throw it in the woods

I'm like Chaz in that the first thing I though about is setting t-posts. A nasty job indeed. Was not too bad when I was a young and foolish lad but now that I'm old and still foolish, no thanks.

Out of curiosity I checked and the price is $395 and this thing weighs 40 lbs. No, I would not want to wrestle that thing very long nor would I want to pay the price. That is half the cost of a hydraulic splitter.

I do like the restraining/ carrying of the splits though. Also I don't ever remember seeing a milk crate tall enough for Backwoods Savage to use this vertical splitter.

When I see people posting $400 for this thing.... stick with getting a hydraulic or even a kinetic splitter which can be found at this similar price and likely to be able to split just about any wood with some exceptions in one pass.
