Craigslist saw market is picking up for the season.

Not me I want note more more. I have trouble letting them go. I will part with one here soon. Probably gonna sell one of the 372 I have when I get them both mostly complete and running. Will sell on CL cause there nothing g good.

 

Me too, but it helps that selling one frees up cash to buy another. I don't actually cut all that much wood because I have limited yard space, so saw acquisition is as much fun as possession.

 

Ahh well u use mine. I have about 5 cords on hand and need about 2-3 more.

 

Heh. 4 cords is as much as I can have without overflowing into unauthorized storage areas.

 

My small shed will hold about 3 cords the way I stack it. The rest runs down a fence. Last year I had it randomly in yard and was in the way kind of. Trying to r figure where I stack to be unobtrusive. I have 3/4 acre but yard and dog pin and huge boat shed and house and drive and carport and front yard make it feel like a city lot!!

 

It is possible to give up your wild ways… My "only" 2 saws… One to get stuck in a tree, the other to get it unstuck…

 

Pretty much maxed out here too on small backyard - Even with what I burned from mid November to now during our coldest winter in 35 years, thanks to the 2 big scores in December & mid February from small local tree service there's actually a bit more on backyard now than last October before I started burning.Barely room for 2-3 more wheelbarrows worth to top off that 2nd big stack along east fence.Not quite 1 cord of leftover dry stuff still stacked,close to 4 cords green White/Red Oak,Silver Maple & a handful of Green Ash for the future.

Almost 13 cords of dead dry mostly Red/White Oak (anywhere from 1 to 3 yrs+) at parents acreage,they don't care how much is stacked up out there That's my "reserve".Should be OK until 2018-19,unless something really changes.

 

And, that plan works great… until I get 2 saws stuck. (I finally learned to use my wedges more often)

 

An ad popped up last weekend for a Husky 365 just a few miles from me, with only a phone number listed and no price. I bit the hook, and it turned out to be a pawn shop -- "Come down, I make you a good deal!" I found the place, which turned out to be a large stall in a defunct shopping mall that has been converted into a sort of Caucasian, west-Pennsylvanian Tijuana (i.e. a slightly skeevy indoor flea market). I had no idea the place was there, so discovering it was fun by itself. The saw was/is in pretty good shape, but they had $400 written on the bar and weren't too interested in negotiating. What I hate is that I know he's very unlikely to find someone willing to pay that, and also knowing I'm unlikely to be the guy that's there with cash when he finally realizes it and gives in to the market.

 

No video yet, but the parts came in and I got the 036 running this afternoon. Took more than the projected hour because it was initially very difficult to start, and then only kept running at a rough idle if I held the throttle wide open. I disassembled the carburetor and found it badly varnished, with one of the gaskets starting to come apart. Fortunately I had a spare carb of the exact same type, so I swapped it in and the saw fired right up. A bit of adjustment and the saw seems to run beautifully. I had to quit because the neighbors got home and I was making too much racket. or else I'd still be out there futzing with it.

 

Ugggg, those type neighbors. The downfall of city living and yuppies.

 

I don't blame them. Their kitchen is about 15' from my cutting area.

 

Besides, they've never complained. I'm just trying to be considerate.

 

I think my symptoms are worsening. I don't know anything about old Homelites, but this popped up on CL for cheap this afternoon, and I couldn't resist:

 

I haven't even put gas in it yet, but I hope to tomorrow. Seller only wanted $15 so I didn't spend a lot of time looking it in the mouth. Compression feels great, it was stored without fuel in the tank, and so far the worst problem I've noticed is that the choke button plastic is chipped.

 

Looks like it. There are used ones on eBay for less than $5 shipped, so I'm not too worried about it.
