Tip of Travis Igniter is burned out but cartridge is welded?

The tip of this Igniter is burned out but the cartridge is welded in?
Can the weld be cut and a new cartridge be installed or welded back in?
This goes into a large Travis Fireplace Insert Pellet Stove.
The collar should be welded to the tube so then the Igniter cartridge could be replaced easily. But there needs to be an air space or space for air to come in.
How about a short piece of tube with 2 drill holes for air welded to the back side and the collar welded on to the end of that?
If I had another bad Igniter just like that, I could cut off a short piece of tube and bingo with a little welding!!!
Of course if an inch of tube was added then the Igniter cartridge should be 5 inches instead of the OEM 4 inch igniter cartridge.

Don I would just use a cutoff wheel and knock those welds off and reuse that bracket and weld on a new collar. Really shouldn't take more than a few minutes to do.

 

It's called "we made it so you have to buy a new ignitor from us, not Grainger (etc)"

I know Stoves but brand new to the wonderful world of welding! I saved some money and shopped around for the best deal. The new Vulcan line at Harbor Freight is incredible! The one I wanted they cannot keep in stock because of the high demand, every time they get this model in it is sold in just a few hours! I finally snagged one on sale even! Now I can use the 50 amp 220 Vac outlet my helper Barbara & I installed.
It is the new Omni-Pro 220. Just got the welding cabinet Saturday with a Super Coupon for $147 now I just need a table and some C25 unless I do Flux Core.
What do you guys use?
How does it look?

 

I use an Italian made Mig that I bought from HF about 15 years ago...still works great but I also don't use it a whole lot.

 

You nailed it,would take another step to thread before assembly,prob cost another 25 cents,and Travis is anal about their parts,and information.

 

I ran into this on mine. I wasn't in a position to grind off the weld and replace just the component. I bit the bullet and bought the whole unit.

A real pita to get to on my insert. You will also need to grease it a bit with something like a graphite spray to get it in.

Got 6 years out of it, and we use automatic ignition constantly. Not too bad.

 

Hell no, that's not bad at all...
