CountryLine Bar Oil Reviews?

I am getting ready to purchase some bar oil. I usually buy the Wally World brand at $7.97 a gallon. However, TSC has their CountryLine bar oil on offer for $6.00 a gallon. However, I have read some saying that the TSC CountryLine oil is not that good. Two dollars is not that much of a deal if the CountryLine is inferior; although if it is a good oil I would go ahead and purchase two gallons. Anyone used the CountryLine that can give a review? Wally World also has the Poulan oil for $9.48; which isn't that much higher than Wally World's brand. If the Poulan is a better oil to use than the Wally World, then I wouldn't mind paying the higher price either. Just want to get a decent product that does the job.

The stuff to absolutely stay away from is the crap at Menard's ..... unless you live in the Arctic.

 

Yeah I run a lot of that too...thought it was just fine also...but you are right, it isn't the thickest stuff in the world...not great "summertime" oil. Definitely good for cooler weather though...can't beat it for $4.50 gallon

 

I’m certainly no chainsaw expert but I have no issues with the county line oil.

 

I've been running it for a long time with no issues whatsoever. I cut in summer, but not a whole lot.

 

It works fine. I've been running it for a couple years now. I wait for a sale and pick up a couple gallons at a time.

 

It works just fine, right now the price can't be beat.

 

Maybe they changed the recipe. I bought 10 gallons from Menards and thought it was great in the fall or summer. Took some to a gtg in December and it wouldn't pour from a gallon jug without squeezing the jug

 

I think the CountyLine bar oil is pretty decent for the price. I usually buy 3-4 gallons at a time when it is on sale. That will last about 1 1/2-2 years for me. I run it in most of my saws but I will say it doesn't like sub freezing temps to much until the saw can warm it up in the reservoir. I was cutting some at the splitter when the last real cold snap came through here in NC and it was 16 degrees out when I was cutting. I decided it was best to keep in the extra battery slot under the hood of my truck to keep flowing nicely since I left my Kinetix bar oil at the house. I've been really happy with Kinetix and it is $9.99/gal at my local saw shop. Always good to keep a few gallons of CountyLine around for me though.

Some things don't need to be over thot.
2 stroke oil needs some good consideration . As does your gasoline.
I run a lot of NAPA brand winter grade.
Ran a lot of Chevron RPM.
My favorite bar oil is 10/40 full synthetic motor oil. Kinda spendy tho.

 

I've been using the countyline for a while now too. It's been fine for firewood and milling duty.
My son has an appt tomorrow and may have a job at TSC, so I may just get the employee discount soon.

 

Go for it. Run used motor oil . Burn up your bars. Whatever. It's all replaceable. Won't make a difference to average Harry homeowner.(?).

 

I ran the County Line oil exclusively for 2 years...just this year I switched over to the Stihl brand to try out, but once thats used up I'll probably go back to County Line. Its all the same really. As long as it isnt too thick in winter I think its just fine. If Im not mistaken, TS sells a "winter blend" County Line too right?

 

Bar oil is the one thing I don't give much thought to. I'm currently using County Line since I got 2 gallons last time it was on sale. I've run Wal-Mart, Husqvarna, and Ace Hardware bar oil in the past and can't tell a difference with any of them. If the jug says bar oil, I'll use it.

 

All I use and at $6 it`s a no brainer to me.

 

Thanks guys; I will pick up a couple or so gallons while it is on sale. Yes, I think that was the complaint I read; that it gets too thick in winter. However, if it is really cold outside, I probably wouldn't be cutting.
