    How do you guys do it? I've got lots to clear and have been debating the many ways of doing it. I have cut some with a blade on my weedeater, but would like to pull them. Ive got a FEL, but some spots aren't exactly accessible. Choker chain, brush grubber, pullerbear?

    I simply use the small chain saw and leave the stuff lay if it is not in the way. Hopefully this spring or early summer I will be doing a lot of cutting on all the russian olive. That stuff spreads like wildfire. The only good part is that after cutting it, it grows back fast and the deer like the new growth.

    I use a 5/16" cable as a choker… wrap it twice around what I want to rip out, so it grips… pull it with more than heavy enough rig/vehicle, so it can do it no sweat. Things don't break so often then… I also use lifting slings and chains too.

    Either cut it it with a small lil Echo 271 and burn the junk !!! Or sometimes cut the stuff up a little higher...then use my dads mini excavator to pop out the stumps !

    Yeah Dennis, that Russian olive has spread around here......badly.
    Some like the smell in the spring, others don't.
    I'd love to eradicate every last one of 'em.:saw::firepit:

    Danged stuff gives me a headache in the spring. Fortunately it usually lasts only about a week but that is a week too long. I might even hire a young lad to do some cutting of that stuff this spring.

    I cut the saplings with my Stihl. Used a Brushhog on the rest and use Roundup to keep things in check before they get out of hand again. I find the Roundup (Tractor Supply's generic) to be very effective.

    My woods on both sides would take over the driveway if I don't keep on it.

    Thanks. It's long and a lot of work so I can appreciate TC's question on dealing with the brush!

    After I do a Roundup treatment it's looks like someone used Agent Orange all along the woods when it is all turning brown. Lot easier walking with a sprayer once or twice a year versus trying to cut everything.

    Walking ? With a drive that long, I'd be thinking Northern Tool… 16-26 gal water/Roundup tank and sprayer on the ATV or tractor. The"gardener" here enjoyed a mobile watering rig last year, with a tank sitting in the front of our Suz. Extra battery in the rear trunk to power it… she loved it vs. dragging hoses all over the country side… prolly would flush out the Roundup real good before I watered her favorite flowers… :whistle:

    I cleared mine with an old backhoe. A rented mini-ex paired with your tractor on cleanup would accomplish the same thing. I would have destroyed the loader on my tractor doing what I did with the backhoe. After you get it cleared, turn it into something mowable quick or you will be repeating the process in the future.
