Temp sitting at -25 C, or -13 F. Supposed to get some wind overnight, so I guess a little more chilly later. Big old dirty piece of poplar and a few boosters in the stove.
Man I wish we had a bit of cooler weather from your neck of the woods we have suffered with 37 to 42 C 100.4 to 107.8 over the last few days But its really drying out this winters wood stuff I cut and split back in July with these temps it will be ready for this season. Different varieties of eucalyptus is what I mainly burn along with some Cyprus pine and Acacia species. Built some copies of the pallett racks that I seen here on another page. thanks for having me as a member cheers pete
G'day pete from down under. Yea she has been a hot Australia Day weekend for sure. We have had similar temperatures over here in the Victorian central highlands! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Minus 30°F here at the cabin . winds are calm. Poplar is in the stove. I think the high today was 16 below. The other day it was actually colder here than it was in Tok or Northway. That's somewhat rare. Starting to feel like winter here. Sure has been a warm winter. I brought in my Canada Goose , Resolute, drilling parka this evening. Was 20-30 below on Friday at work with a bit of a breeze blowing. I did not dress warm enough. Don't think that will be a problem now.
Looks like spring is over for a while again. Surely did enjoy those couple of days in the 50's though.
48* here now, firing up the Air Conditioners, Just kidding, I have a small fire going to dry the laundry. A little funny item from today's Sunday paper here.
Sitting at -23 C feels -27 C, or -9 F feels -17 F. Oil furnace having some issues, so short sleep, reload, and shorter sleep is on the menu until I figure it out. Poplar as usual.
I'll just try process of elimination starting at the fuel tank and work towards the furnace. My swag is some kind of minor air leak or weak transformer, but I can't say for sure. You'd never know about it if the furnace was cycling in and out on a regular basis (without a wood stove), but sometimes the furnace doesn't cycle for days. It happens when the furnace has sat for at least few hours or so, all rumbly and the flame kind of flutters in and out bright white/yellow for about 2 minutes. Then it settles into normal flame with fingers dancing (same as it always has). Not going to freeze to death in any event, just have to feed the stove more stuff.
Stove was going great past few days, it got to 42 today, my wife let stove go dold. Gave it a quick clean and vacuumed the cat. Temps going down again so quick . High of 5 coming
Yup, same here! Back scraped a good portion of the drive down to stone- hallelujah- with the temps and sun's help! Another temperature roller coaster this upcoming week!
Saw 50 here. Got out with a shovel and got the last of the ice off the parking area, and out of the ruts in the main driveway. My shoulder isn' too happy with me about that.
Mid teens for highs today with off and on snowfall. But it is the light stuff once again due to the temps. By Thu, we'll have highs just over zero on the plus side though.
Highest I saw at the cabin was -17.2°F. When the sun was hitting the temp probe. Down to 27 under atm. Just shoveled 4 gal of ashes out of the stove. Kinda my Sunday afternoon thing. Split up a days wood. Sledded it in . now its recliner time. Poplar and white spruce in the stove.
