9199EC7C-A142-42FC-9F9B-514F71945E15.jpeg This is the last I have from my first year cutting. This is 4 year old oak that I cut when I had my 17vl, so it’s smaller of course. Got a cold front coming through so I figured I’d go ahead and burn it. I’m anxious to see how well it burns. Should put off some good heat!

Nice! My porch stack for comparison. Had to actually purchase this one from a guy as all my other wood is still seasoning. Caught in a pickle. Mostly silver maple and ash here. Was told it sat for two years.

Yeah it's been burning pretty well. I got a moisture meter, haven't tested it yet. But it burns pretty well. Nice and cracked on the ends.

Looks awesome! I especially love the way well seasoned oak feels when you knock two pieces together.

Did you keep track of how well it was seasoning thru those 4 years from time to time?

Yea I did the first couple years. Haven’t checked it since then. It was about 20% at 1.5 years. I’ll bust one open and check it now

I have about 2 cord or so of red oak c\s/s since Feb 2017, I’m curious to see how dry it is by Nov 2018. I’ll be resplitting a few pieces in Nov to check the moisture content.

That'll do the trick for sure! Nice gray pile there - gonna light up like a pack of hippies at a Willie Nelson show.

Don’t burn much pine down here. I’ll mix it with poplar and maple

That will work without any issues i guess. I got amounts of spruce - mixed with oak and other hardwood makes it hotter than hell i reckon.
