Nice n hot 21 outside... warmed up from couple weeks ago. I may be crazy but I honestly say, I like the cold.. in winter..sure can tell when u burn 3 yr dry oak.. it's amazing. The whole log turns into a coal..
I'll have to get pictures up later, as I'm on break at work right now. But I wanted to say something on why we do what we do...I'm sure everyone here will agree that there is just something about wood heat that is satisfying. I thoroughly enjoy the idea of using something straight from the earth to heat with, just as people have done for thousands of years. I also like the fact that you have to work for your comfort a bit. You don't take your warmth for granted like so many do as they just flick a switch on the wall to make things warmer. Wood heat is not a lazy man's game. And I like that. Not to mention all the great people I've met in my wood searching adventures, all the places I've seen, all the tree species I've learned about. There has been nothing but positive things since I started using wood for heat!
I had the same brand gate for our toddler but took it down to paint the walls last summer and didn’t put it back up. He is a little older now and seems to understand “hot” pretty well. The dog seems to like it too.
Nothing more satisfying then wood fire. It's a primal NEED that I think everyone has, but only a lucky few actually get to satisfy it! We're some of the lucky ones!! I'm telling ya, these woodburners are a part of our family at the Overkill house!!
