Heading for a low of 4 tonight. Clear sky, so I'm thinking it'll be -4!

Every now and then, I hear a nail pop! Temps must be dropping pretty fast.

Ya , that's for sure . my daughter and grandkids live in a village in southern southeast at an elevation of maybe 40 ' . They had to follow the evacuation plan. There's a road that goes up to higher ground where everyone in the village goes to evacuate . . That's twice in the past 12 months they've had to head to higher ground.

It really makes you sit up and pay attention considering global events that have occurred. Im sure also the 1964 event for Alaskans is still ingrained in many minds. My mum grew up in Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver island. I should ask her if she remembers anything about that day. Water can be a beautiful but scary thing to live near.

I had to argue with my wife yesterday that it's stupid to put down salt while it's raining. She just didn't get it. Yes, I get that it' real slippery in the driveway, but putting salt down in the pouring rain won't help any.

I live in about 6 Acer's of oak trees . At below 0f they crack pretty loud enough to really get your attention. Along with house creaking from frost pushing on it lol. And that's just in Minnesota. It can get pretty nasty here to. 4 f here and burning them oak slabs . There's no creosote in my boiler..
    Kinda burn hot!!!

There were just a couple pops/snaps last night out of the house, and then things got quiet. Don't know just how cold it got or if it even got below zero-probably not.
The real feel is -5 now while the temps is 10.

I had to do the same thing here, she asked me to get out of bed to do it, I told her to have # 3 son who had no school and was up to do it. She told me it was "my job". I said, it's time it became the 17 yr old's job. :loco:

Lol I wish I had that option! Now I need to scrape it all up and push it away. Hopefully the plow will handle the task, because I hurt my shoulder/neck pretty good somehow last night spreading the salt.

Surely is nice seeing some bare ground! Looks like we should have a week or more like this too. Although below freezing today, we see a couple days in the 40's coming up yet this week. Hooray!
