Went for a walk in the BTU’s, actually standing out there now. Looking for some 19-20-21 stuff Found a willow with no bark to the top, and one butternut hickory with a big canopy. Lots more of course, but I like dropping these before sap flows heavy in the spring B4AE5FCD-B388-48CE-A826-F3100CE91266.jpeg 3E718071-19CA-4FD5-98DF-4718588C3AC8.jpeg 3DD4F430-3AFA-41D3-BBE0-2BABE055A25F.jpeg BE0E5699-29E8-4EB8-904C-5B49BB09FBF8.jpeg C2FD8AB6-4709-47C1-8302-8E74BA8FE4A6.jpeg DAF6942D-331C-48F2-860E-B36B4E1EC419.jpeg

Added this cute little maple to the list. 65 lb shepherd and my boot for scale. Has a little limb tie up with the adjacent maple, so it could mean a two for one special 22C76C2E-38AA-4120-9C4D-FEF7E33354A2.jpeg 04693833-46F8-4B43-AA30-DA5068321AE4.jpeg 30B0B89A-C95A-43C9-96A8-3B051D942139.jpeg 5D0AF8E6-538B-4C23-B96C-A4003C227F14.jpeg 907081AC-1378-4B09-A960-D439ECBCDC9A.jpeg

And these three beech. Good start for the long term wood. I will skid these all to the log pile for summer buck and split. 2A17EB0D-A0F8-49DC-A8C0-9EFA7BEC8345.jpeg C77A4DD4-71AB-47BD-8B4A-BFA062DBB1F3.jpeg 47BA0BCC-1098-46C6-A834-30D69F5033FD.jpeg

That's a gooder amount of btu's. I'd pass on the willow though, unless you have an outdoor wood boiler.

Nothing like having your own woodlot to manage. Thinning out some of the less desirable tree's and standing dead tree's. Great for the soul, great for wildlife and great for the woodlot. KIMG0221.jpg

That willow in the first pic looked dead as door nail. I would watch that one close when falling. Very nice to be able to walk out into the woods and say to yourself I think I will take that one and that one.

Be safe and get some exercise.

I think he means the scratches in the base of the willow. Looks luck bug tracks to me. They get under the bark as it rots

I love beech, wish i had some on my property. Lots of hickory though. As a matter of fact i just cooked ribs on the indoor bbq over some hickory. Watchin TB12 do it again.
