I will search for one. Funny thing s, the glen of Sourwood on the tree farm is not very impressive. Kinda by default, as it is a very uncommon native tree for Indiana. There is a small part of Indiana which has a blend of Northern, Eastern, and Southern trees. Somehow theses snuck over from Kentucky.

Hello, My name is Bruce, i currently live in Lebanon County PA, Looking at uprooting my family and moving to the Poconos, (that is were my wife is from) so she can be closer to her family. Most every house i look at is all electric, so my thoughts turned to pellet stove. I have been lurking and reading up on them. I figured it was time to do a formal introduction.

    Thank you for having me!

Hi all. I'm Paul. Like others on here I'm here to talk about my addiction to online p..... o wait, wrong support group forum, my bad. :D

I'm from the Wisconsin Dells, WI area. I'm on my 4th winter burning wood with my Kuuma Vapor Fire 100. We live in a 30'x40' log sided A frame "cabin" of sorts with 25' ceilings and loft with walkout basement. It has draft and insulation issues which we are hoping to do something about. I have 50+ cords c/s/s of mostly red/white oak with some black locust mixed in. Most of which was hauled out by my Can Am ATV. Like bren mentioned, here it is in full winter mode; 5 saws, two splitting mauls, two cable pullers, straps, clevises, cables, chains, gas, bar oil, safety gear, etc......... You can see our house (green metal roof) and some of the c/s/s wood in the background of the first pic.

    Welcome aboaqrd JRHAWK9

Nice area that you're from. I think the glaciers never made it that far south, no?

The A-frames I am used to seeing are quite a bit different than what yours looks like!

thanks! yep, the glaciers didn't come though our area. It's even more hilly just 15 minutes SW of us.

I agree on the A frames. I always thought the same but some people refer to ours as an A frame. Maybe they are wrong. It's basically a log cabin style with no attic, 12/12 pitch roof and loft.

Are you married? Seriously, there are women on this forum who would marry a man with 50 cords as a dowry. Welcome to the forum, JRHAWK9! Moderating, is he #4000?

nope, not married, don't ever plan on it either. I like to say I learn from other people's mistakes. LOL

For those who are probably thinking about wanting to call my bluff about 50+ cord, here's a video of my stash as of spring of '17 after I got done splitting/stacking that winters haul. I was splitting right where that limb decided to come down about a week after I finished up. :bug: It has since been taken care of. :smoke:

Below you'll find the spreadsheet of all the measurements of the wood you see in the video. This winter I have about burned through Row 1 under the back left column and have also burned the short row of small rounds you see in the video that's not accounted for below. I also plan on burning Row 2 of that same location. I probably will have 3-5 cords waiting to be split/stacked come spring to replace the two rows I plan on burning this winter, so my net supply may increase a bit more by this spring.

Holy cow that is a lot of c/s/s wood JRHAWK9 ! Although I burn pellets in this house, my last place used to burn wood for a lot of our heat. The ex did all the c/s and I did all the stacking so I can appreciate the amount of work that went into all of that.

Looking forward to you posting in the pellet stove section dabirdz .

Welcome to the forum both of you
