No, it's fine really, not everyone knows me here and he asked some pertinent questions. Now that I'm at a computer I'll delve in a little.

No, I am not taking on porting work for others for pay. I have ported a few of my own saws, cut some pistons and cylinders, porting a saw for Dallas(friend) and my cousin all for no money as I quite frankly am practicing.
I am a good saw mechanic and could toot that horn the loudest. I don't take work off the internet and I do some local for folks I know as a hobby.
YouTube stuff is raw good bad and ugly I don't cherry pick or edit for effect. It is what it is, I don't claim to be anything really, most were done to learn from.
Yes the Dial indicator was at an angle, only showed it to see how far off it was. I did use it right to true the mandrel and cut that same cylinder square to the bore. while technically an inaccurate measurement would have been taken, none were taken, was just there to show it not true. Which it did. I was already busted out on that by another good machinist and have since bought a new lever type indicator and promise not to repeat that again! Lol
Can't help it if I have conflicting affiliations on OPE, this really I can do nothing about, I hope folks can look past this and see just me.
So yes I have done a few things for folks that know my "level" of expertise. I have never charged a dime to any of them. Maybe some day it would be nice though if I could.
Race saw is a POS and here again I jumped the gun and made a quick vidja of it running as some folks had asked me to. While it does run that saw has a lot of work to be done to it yet before it can even cut a piece of wood. It was also the hardest thing I've ever had to do, going way past my current "skill level" and giving it a go to see if I could do it. A lot of radical tech went into the making of it that isn't really "normal" so failure is just one way to learn what works. It's supposed to be a fun project, and I am going to keep it that way one way or the other.
Hope this clears things up for folks here a little betterer. Have any questions, ask away... Steve

Howdy, I'm just waiting on next contractor to show up to bid fixing sheet rock. 10 years ago it would have been done by me by now. So checked in on self described slackers thread..
