Yeehaw! Hit the warm up! -12 c feels -17 c or 11 f feels 1 f. I was wondering why the hall temp was 73 and my draft somewhat lazy.

Man it’s coming down. Looking at a cold night tonight. Wind chills down below zero. Unheard of for us. Got the oak and cherry rolling at 550

It's so cold my outdoor thermometer must have froze up. Temp on the car showed -9 this am but I doubt it, more like -5 per the weatherman. I'm burning red oak by day and white oak and pignut at night.....stacks shrinking fast.

31F outside there's snow in the forecast, oak in the stove, a pot pie in the oven.....and rum in my belly. Aside from back pain, life is good.

Heat wave here. 28 with snow on the menu. Couple inches so far, supposed to be 10 by tomorrow afternoon. Warm temps and slow accumulation makes life a lot easier on the roads, so we'll take it. Cherry and sugar maple doing the deed.

17 degrees out, relaxing outside for a while. Stew in the crock pot and fresh bread.

3 right now. The "post card" snow we got today stopped and it is just cooling off.

The snow was like shoveling feathers....very light.

Right where I want to be.
6 headed to 3. I let the fire burn down earlier, then added one split about 5PM.
Wife got home at 7-ish and said she was cold, so I bumped the stat. and the wall furnace has been running since then. About to crank up a firebox full of Oak after unloading some ashes.
Couple inches of new snow on everything looks nice.

I have just got to where I shovel out the red hots after burning them somewhat small, like golf ball size. Can't afford to let it die down. I have to have that heat when it's cold .

Winter Storm Warning tonight here in the Piedmont of NC. Of course, the chance of flurries have caused school cancellations in the past and we freak out over the thought of snow, but we're looking at a few inches of snow overnight and temps in the teens tomorrow night (upper 20's tonight). By chance, I'm into the thick of my oldest red oak in my stacks which burns nice and long. Been awhile since I've had consistent overnight burns!

    32ºF outside right now
    we're supposed to get rain
that's fine with me, although anyone near a river is a bit nervous about the flood level rivers and streams

at these temps the stove heats the whole house easily.

    red oak for stove chow
