Crank stuffers >> revboost. Crankcase. I suspect tuning is a little different as well.

I’m more of a STIHL man myself but I did do some research on the 555 this morn ; it appears the 555 and 562 share the same cylinder but the transfers are different ... ie the 555 is de-tuned ... it may be a similar case like the 365 special which can be converted to a 372 with the right know-how !

I bought an early 562 and it had some electrical demons which were eventually figured out and the dealer fixed. The saw hasn't had any trouble since and I like it a lot, I am sure the newer saws are as they should be and don't have the issues of the early runs. I grab that saw the majority of the time because it is light and comfortable to run. Saying that, if I was looking and didn't have the 562, I would look at the Echo 590, seems pretty nice and the price is right. I have debated about just buying it now but I always tell myself why when I have the 562 and am keeping it.
I cut mostly for property maintenance of my few acre wooded lot and occasional firewood cutting (a couple cords a year) and helping out a neighbor or friend with the occasional tree. One thing I will say about the pro saws versus a homeowner saw is the bar lengths it will take. I have run a 28", 24" and 20" on my 562 and it will pull them all. If I am cutting logs/ limbs on the ground, the 24" is nice on my back because I can almost stand upright, the 20" I am always hunched. If I am working on a log pile, the 20" screams and I can work at a comfortable height with the dogs bit in and the saw is light in the hands.
I have a 372 that wears a 24" bar most times and it is just a pig to carry around and start compared to the 562 but when it comes to being buried in bigger wood (20"+), I will take the 372.
I am working on getting a ms170 running for little stuff and limbing or to keep on the quad for trail clearing but that is still in pieces on my bench

You could always wait until Woodsmen Field Days in August they always have lots of saws for sale there

Bingo, best place to get a real. I think it’s $200 off on a 661. I have a 310, 461 and an 880. 880 is a pig and I love it, but the 461 or 660 or reasonably light saws for the Power. If you can wait, hit the Hudson tent at the Boonville show (woodsmen field days). You will not leave empty handed plus with the savings you can buy several chains etc.

What is the biggest size wood you will cut, that’s the important question....

By the sounds of it, this won’t be your “last” purchase anyway.....CAD you are already bitten my friend!!!!

Biggest size would probably be 30" or so. I'd like to run a 20" bar comfortably, I'll put it that way. 16" on the 211 has gotten a lot done for me but I know I'm abusing that 211. I've cut everything with it. Still saying its a good saw for what I paid though, despite all the bad reviews who I'm pretty sure were written by people who don't even know how to start it up. That seems to be the biggest complaint is they are hard to start. Funny, mine starts no problem in single digit weather after sitting for a few weeks.

I also try to not really have a budget for the things i really enjoy, but being in a new house with an endless list of things to do is keeping my chainsaw budget around that $600 or less mark.

I hear ya on the endless task!!!

Also I had a very nice new 211 easy start that I got in a group of non-runners...nothing was wrong with it, and my dad seen it at my house...being older and haveing old shoulders he showed interest, so I said try to start it....he was shocked how easy it was and he really liked it...I just told him to take it home....he likes it a lot..

Good little saw with a 16” lo-pro type chain

My parents bought a new ms211 about 2 years ago. It wears a 16" b&c from the factory. Granted it's Pico chain, but that saw cuts very well for its size. It starts great too, temp doesn't matter at all. My only complaint is the easy adjust chain tensioner, which works fine until you have to undo it and try to get it back together. What a pita.

Found a dealer who knocks off 10% if paying cash. Might just go for a 362...almost pulled the trigger last night on the 261c but held off.

Probably one of the best buys ever. Great saw and very affordable. One of my favorites.

362 is not a bad option, especially if you have access to big wood. Both the 261 or 362 are great choices. What time of year do you cut most? If you winter cut how deep is the snow and what temps? I am mostly a winter cutter. I have a variety of saws and I can tell you that in the thigh deep snow and colder temps, with associated clothing. I find myself picking up the 026 and 261 more often then not. The bigger saws seem to be used when I can get the truck close to the tree and little to no snow. I don't find that I wish I had a bigger saw with me.

    Good luck with your choice.

Tell ya what. I will buy a 24” 84dl 3/8 .050 off you and run it and list the results. Send me a PM with what you charge for it (based off your other posts) then I will post the vids. We can then put it to rest. I have enough chains to run it against including a nice one by Mr Squarefile.

if your gonna be cutting up to a 30 inch tree with a saw you wouldnt be happy with a 50cc saw you can get it done with a 60cc saw but stay with a 20 inch bar as the 24 inch bar may drag it down too much and disappoint you
if buy new get a brand you can get dealer support and parts for easily

I'll chip in. I'd like to see some results also. I may learn something and that's never bad.

if you are looking at a used saw get plenty of pictures and videos with a stock chain and the bar you plan on using there are some guys on here that buy and sell saws and get referrals for the guy selling

You are absolutely correct my friend ... stick to the topic “lacking a ballsy saw” ... just gonna say one last thing ... I live in the USA ... if people are going to make “accusations” or try and portray myself or others in a negative light then they better DAM WELL have proof ... you make an accusation then the burden is on YOU to prove what you say ... if you can’t do that then take a big cup of stfu !
