New to site, was wondering if anyone knew if the buck 26000 was firebrick lined, gonna be used freestanding Thanks
Welcome to the site! Lot's of good folks and knowledge here. I am sure someone will be by soon around here and have knowledge of Buck stoves to share. Enjoy!
I have one. I am a really under the weather with this flu. But I will try to help if your not in a hurry. I am only on here when I’m not in bed Chief Edit: they came with molded ceramic fire bricks in the botttom, sides, and back. Most of them don’t have them anymore because they were for burning coal. If you go to “forums” and search “Buck 26000” you will find several of my posts about the stove.
Thanks chief, hope you kick that flu bug soon and get to feeling better. Do I need to use firebrick? Will be burning wood only, no rush on the reply thanks in advance wc68
No fire brick needed burning wood, as long as your fan is running which takes the heat away from both sides and top and bottom. If your fan quits open the doors and run it like a fire place. I have been burning mine since 1982 and it still looks like new. I do recommend direct connecting your chimney.
Thanks LP. It’s still my favorite of the two. And twice the heater. Since I direct connected many years back, it turned into a different stove. This is the second winter I haven’t cleaned the chimney. I used to have to clean it at least twice a season, and it was a mess. I looked at it this Fall but there just wasn’t anything to clean. Just some brown dust. And it burns about the same amount of wood as the Hampton. I know many on here don’t believe me but it’s true. It’s going to outlast me for sure. Chief
That stove is a beauty chief!!! Mine will be freestanding. Legs, stack, glass inserts ordered from local Buck dealer, cheaper than from the internet!!they don't know a lot about them said that the 26000 was before their time haha
Im gonna watch this post because my dad has a 26000 he is wanting to put in his shop and is wanting to use it free standing.
