I don't like bagged potting soil for just that reason, it's at least 50% wood chips. I buy pro-mix instead, and mix in composted leaves. I don't use as much as I used to, lost interest in gardening once I started hoarding wood!
I was going to ask if u had the skidder chained up all the way around ? R u sleeping effectively ? I recently had a medical issue and found out I may have sleep apnea. I can relate to feeling like carp energy wise and loggin in deep snow at the same time.
9 under . poplar in the stove . The Copper Basin 300 Sled Dog race starts this morning here in Glennallen. Nice moderate temps and plenty of snow. Lakes and most rivers are froze over. So it should be a good trail. But they were calling for 12" of snow tonight.
Currently 12 degrees down from 50 yesterday. Around 6 pm wind changed from south and warm to northwest and not. Somewhere between 6 and 8 inches of snow and drifts waist deep. Burning mostly ash STT at 600
16 now, supposed to bottom out at 0 overnight. This time yesterday it was 60. Some pretty flakes falling, just enough to mix in with the freezing slush so that it doesn't turn into a skating rink. Was nice to save wood for a couple days - now winter has returned! The thaw was well timed. Roofs are clear, and log pile is no longer snow bound. Might be able to get some work done Sunday and Monday, which is my weekend this week.
