This call came out in my neighboring county. We respond with them when assistance is needed. I was ready to assist but we were not toned out. But I heard the tones go out and then listened on the radio to what I could hear till they sent trucks home. I knew it was not good but didn't know how bad till late next morning. Turns out I knew who he was, his in law grandparents live around the corner from me. The father and his three kids were killed in this fire. He was actually a member of our FD about 5 years ago. Please send prayers out for this family and you firefighters out there please use the #jraughonduty and tribute this family. The son wanted to be a firefighter when he grew up, since his dream will never come true the family wants as many departments to honor him by posting his name on the duty board, roster, truck list, your helmet, shirt, how ever you can think of. firefighter938 tfdchief Moderating Please pass the FB message around to those who you know who are emergency personnel. This one really hits home and I have been saddened all this week over this. The funeral is tomorrow, we will have each of my towns 3 trucks there at the service, McCormick county will send a truck or two, and no telling how many others. I know that guy that dresses as batman for kids who is from Virginia is coming down to ride in the lead truck. Search Twitter - #JRaughOnDuty
So sad...I know those firefighters must have given their all to try and save this family. We miss the little ones the most.
Sending our prayers and thoughts from Long Island NY. Being a Dad of a 9 year old boy and almost 7 year old boy I can't imagine the loss.
That is one of the saddest stories I've read for a long time. A tough one clemsonfor for sure. Prayers sent.
We just finished up with the funeral. We had over 50 trucks or apparatuses and well over 100 personnel attend the funeral. Trucks fom NC i beleive from a few other states, places i didnt even recognize. Cemetary is small and only 4 trucks were allowed up in there to have room for family and friends cars. Support was overwhelming.
Here is what we did at TFD. The new Chief put him on the duty roster. May God let this little guy RIP. And get to fight fires in Heaven. Chief
Thanks so much for passing this story on. It means so much to this family to see just these small gestures done to honor their young son/family member. I have not been doing this long, i know these things will happen, and inknow they will never get easier, but this is one of those stories that will make an impact on my life and stay with me forever. Trucks that were here i heard were from as far away as Tennessee and Florida. They gave him a ladder salute putting up the ladder truck at the church and the cemetary Thank you again Cheif!
