O man now I’m really out! You don’t wanna see me that drunk it usually ends in a Bar fight and free ride to the local loony bin...
20 out, 72 in.....3 inches of new snow on 1 inch of ice glaze....expecting another 3 or 4 overnight & single digits temps. Just loaded elm, ash & hickory.
-10f oak slabs got them to burn 8.5 hours last night . Going for longer tonight 10 hours .. AKA. Dragons on a short leash. 6600sqft heating. Heat550 Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk
Incredibly so. In fact it is still down pouring rain. We are suppose to get over 2 inches of rain. Just a day of 46 degree weather caused the snow pack to settle down to half of what it was, then the rains came. I am going up this morning and see how my logging roads fared in terms of washing out, check dams holding back erosion, etc.
supposed to be 13ºF in less than 24 hours. flood warning, gale warning, fog advisory, wind advisory and flood watch rain and wind woke me up, really driving
DOZER or skidder ? I always had a problem with the deeper snow here as well. The last couple timber sales I bought I would just plow out to the trees if they were close enough together. It actually speeded production up for me. But , the snow we normally get here is super dry sugar snow About all that can be done with it is push the air out of it and let it freeze. Or blade it completely out of the way.
Welllll............neither right now. I don't talk about this often because I am kind of guy that is more of..life is what it is...but I have not been feeling very good This cancer has really just kicked my bottom and I have absolutely no energy. I might go dub around fixing up my generator for an hour or two, and then be so exhausted I have to sleep for two hours. Then I'll do something again for an hour and sleep for another two. Logging in waist deep snow was just out of the question. Not having a skidder helped. I blew out the rear end on one of those super cold days, so its in the shop getting rebuilt. I am looking at getting the driveshafts fixed, new tire chains, oils all changed, and a new mainline cable. So I have been waiting for that to be done and then we will see if I can get back in the woods.
Nothing like being woke up with a kiss. Too bad it was from the dog! Still cold and poplar chugging along.
73 in the house just filled it with red oak burning low and slow its 21 outside and clear now humidity is 83% and the wind is nnw at 7 mph.
11 F outside and just reloaded after a night load.... Put some elm and walnut in for short daytime burns...
Are you ready for this..... overnight low....59* What the....? Well I'm certainly saving wood today. No heat of any kind being used now. It is supposed to go down to single digits tonight and create a giant skating rink of all the rain coming down now, just what we need.
10 to 20 degrees, cleaned up the snow/ice and thawed out vehicles yesterday. Hedge apple, ash and hickory in the stove.
