Last bag of Purcells is in da hoppa. Unfortunately, I won't be able to test it. Running in automatic mode and I'm taking off for work. North Idaho up next and the weekend is coming up so it'll be easy to reset and test it.

I'll finish up my last bag today or early tomorrow morning as the temps have increased here. But I wanted to report that Purcells are a fir mix (not 100% DF) and they don't burn as hot as BMs or Olys (by a little bit). Both my wife and I have noticed a significant decrease in fines in the bag though. So much so -- it's eerily clean. And the smell is strong fir -- a good sign. When this bag completes, I'll provide an update on the clinkers or lack thereof in the burn pot. These pellets definitely shoot more popcorns... which I find enjoyable to watch.

I thought the same thing. They are very dark in color. In appearance and smell they resemble FSUs I have burned, only they burn much cleaner (produce much less ash).

How did them shorties burn IHP ? Curious as i was not able to pick any up last week but may be able soon but don't know if they have the material to start the softies again .
Would like to try them though seems like it would be a nice compromise at the price I can get them at eventually .

This is hard to see through the shadows but here is the carbon buildup in the stove after 4 bags of Purcells. It looks average to me. Keep in mind I was not anal about scraping down on the burn pot... so all in all I liked the Purcells. Not quite as hot as true, pure DFs but pretty darn good.

Yes that's a mirror sitting on top of my burn pot.

Ok, I've got the stove cleaned and North Idaho pellets in the hopper. I noticed loading the hopper with them showed almost zero fines. But it's warmed up quite a bit here so I probably won't start my pellet stove until late Sunday night/early Monday morning. I'll most likely just burn the wood stove upstairs for the day.
