It is so good to see ground again! Woke up this morning and wondered where the snow went. We just have patches of it mostly but in the thick woods there is still plenty. Good thing is the ice dam has melted off the roof as I was getting a bit worried. There is a little mud but only the top layer and then only in spots. Expecting rain to move in later today but is surely has been nice doing some work outside without freezing. Even on the tractor, it was not cold.
And in my case.... I'm at work...will have to see if the bosses are going to cancel work tonight or not....
The weather guessers don't know what the heck is going on. I have seen anywhere from 2" to 8" of the white stuff predicted by Sat. along with ice accumulations. Will just have to wait I guess. I am ready. Wouldn't mind the high end of predictions. I haven't had to plow in 3 years and kind of looking forward to it. Skid Steer is fueled up and turned around so I can exit the shop ready to plow. Miserable day. Rain off and on. I was going to bring more wood up to the house, but every time I got started it rained. Maybe a good thing. I didn't tear up the yard much moving what little I got moved. Let it snow Let it snow Let it snow.
I made the most of 50° today, even did a little hoarding! Found 5 birch poles at the dump, nothing more than 4" diameter, but still felt good. Then I split a little hemlock with the X25 just for practice. Also shoveled a second roof dump, and the path on the side of the house that I take to carry ashes. Felt great to be outside getting exercise! Oh, and the dump smelled amazing! There were whole truckloads of unsold Balsam Christmas trees.
Got the suburban back up and running. Turns out the aux heater core was fine. It was the line going to it that broke where the metal was crimped to the plastic connector. Rather than replace the whole line, I removed the broken connector. Then I dremeled off the plastic stop for the metal crimp. after the dremel pic. Then I cut off the bad metal to plastic crimp from the line. Pic here Reattached connector to heater core and slid rubber hose over modified connector with a clamp. Woot! Back on the road for the cost of 1 gallon of dexcool and 1 gallon of distilled water.
Lol. Nice art Yea...this is weird january weather for sure. We hit 60 today. Won't be above freezing for another week. Over half of indy is sick already.
Started off the day with temps close to 40 with rain. Temps dropped through out the day and are now in the teens. Rain changed over to snow and we got about an inch of snow on top of a thin layer of ice. Warmer by next weekend.
Just one of "those" winters around here. Temps. are forecasted to be pretty mild , not much snow for the next month. Last nights snow was supposed to be 4"-8" or more......we barely got 2". I'm sure spring will make up for it, we need snow here.
Thanks Rotti. It's been a tough number of months in our family with Dad passing in June. My wife and I talked with Mom a bit tonight, and she's doing better. We expect she'll get released from the hospital Friday or Monday. She'll have care for a few days at a facility in the town she is living, as she can't put on her neck brace by herself, with a cast in one wrist, and swollen fingers on the left hand. She's getting better though.
67 today then ice storm switching to snow in sometime after 8am tomorrow area schools have already canceled and my area is under a winter storm warning. mother nature can kiss both of my a** cheeks for all i care
Good monin folks... ... ... it's lightly raining here now and really warm. Snow is melting off the roofs like crazy. Clearing the main drain out front sure feels good. Glad we were able to get at it couple days ago. Promises to get ugly as today's rain turns to freezing rain tomorrow. Snow next week... ... ahhhh Maine wintahs, aaaaaa-yuh...
Just woke up to a giant mess. Was 55 and rain when I went to bed. 31 and freezing rain/sleet now. Once I get some coffee, I'll go shovel the sleet before it sticks. Probably quarter inch so far. Roads are ultra nasty per IN state police.
