Slowly making my way to get me the crap out of here rain and wind make 40f feel much colder at night!
She's keeping certain foods down, she's getting better. My brother and cousin are there now. Looks like she'll get released tomorrow. She wanted to go to a rehab facility, but Medicare denied it. We'll see. My brother said she's doing a lot better than he was expecting. So, there's that. Her blood pressure is better. But the main reason the docs haven't released her is the blood pressure.
My mom tried to skip rehab (her choice) and come home with me, 24 hours later she was back in the ER. She couldn't make it to the bathroom, or even to the portable commode without help and fell down during the night trying to do it herself. No real injuries, so spent a day for observation, and yep, discharged to rehab. Medicare paid.
Sounds like my father in law every time he is n the hospital. He has MS, so every time he gets sick it's bad. Never listens to the doctors and always insists on going home for his wife to suffer dealing with it. Then ends up right back in there a day later. Every damm time.
What’s up Hoarders? I’ve been working a lot of overtime so I can’t keep up with this thread. I hope everyone is well and having a great time. My aunt (88) and uncle (90) live in their own home and it’s getting a bit much for them. We found them a great semi assisted apartment. They should be in there by March and then I have to sell their house. A big load off our minds!
Visiting with my Dad this morning. He is progressing downhill. Unfortunately. But we are sitting here bullchitting. I’m having a Pepsi and I made him his coffee. Toast and Peanut Butter were good as well.
She's a fighter, every step of the way down. She's in a memory care (dementia) home now, and some afternoons she packs random belongings in the basket of her walker, puts on her coat, and tries to get out of the locked ward. They give her a glass of sherry (fortunately it's a nice place).
We are having a problem with our septic. I think I’ll dig up the top of it today and get it pumped out today or tomorrow and get it covered back up before the snow flies Friday night into Saturday. We may get 8”+!
To all of you Hoarders who are going through tough times with elderly parents you have my deepest sympathies. Both my wife and I had to deal with long downward spirals with our mothers. It puts a daily strain on life not to mention the mental toll it takes on family care givers. The "system", in most cases, doesn't make the journey any easier. You learn to cope with the daily pressures as they sink deeper and deeper toward the inevitable, and then with that time comes you need to deal with the loss as well. You then realize exactly how much stress YOU were carrying through out the process. Take solace that after it is over, you can come to mental "grips" with knowing that you did all that you could to make the situation as best as possible while it was occurring. Above all enjoy them while you have them around.
Haven't been on much this week as we are in the process of getting our new kitchen installed. Had to do a fair amount of electrical and plumbing prep work after we did the tear-out on Tuesday. The whole thing is complicated by the fact that we have no basement, only a slab/short crawl space where naturally, all the plumbing and electrical runs. Alas, got it finished up for the most part last night, in time for the arrival of the install today. Should be up and running by tomorrow night. Everyone have a great and safe day.
