Torn lateral collateral ligament, right knee. Got healed up re-enlisted for 6 more and out of the blue, command was notified that I was on a list of medical retirements. Had been back to full duty 8 months. Because i was injured during a block of dates all injured personnel were chopped first. That was something like 1.8 million personnel in the drawdown. I still had just over 6 years on contract left. Command tried to fight it and lost. Went to medical board with my 1 star. That bout chit a brick when my name was called and the boss told me to sit down he has this.
Was injured during Bosnia. Had my CO’s back, saved his... so when I had my medical he had already made star and came to get my back. Didn’t do any good, one star don’t override and executive order. But got me the job I have today. We square.
