I’ve got a few too many in my current lineup.. I auctioned the cs400 and my 271 T top handle was given to a needy gentlemen. I miss both of them... Cs310 Cs352 Cs590 Cs620 CS680 Cs8000
the 440evl in the pic is from around 1985 the john deere is from about 1983-1984 the cs 5000 im guessing is from around the mid 1990's
Nice old saws! I have a 650 evl in the shed somewhere to fix up yet... I have an old Deere weed whip that’s echo and it is a trooper! We also have a nice newer echo weed whip and leaf blower both of which are easy to start and powerful! Those two are hidden in the shed till spring My echos are wearing their Stihl Bar covers they saw shop gave me a ton of them so why not best of both worlds right!
Got to -4F overnight. Stove was out this morning and the boiler was carrying the house in the low 60's. Started a pretty aggressive fire with maple, mostly uglies and pieces and the stove really took off; got the stack temp. to 730F and for the first time that I know of, the stove top temp. cracked just over 700F. Brought the inside temp. up 7 degrees in an hour and still climbing. The water pots on top of the stove are doing a slow boil.... have not seen that before either. Brian
Morning, I don't know how cold it got last, cause I slept in till 9:30. It was -2 then when I got up. It was -5 when I went to bed. So it was probably near -10. Maple in the stove now.
Bingo! A 70 degree jump in temperature is big time for sure. A chinook that no doubt is very welcome.
The humidity indeed will get your attention but the first thing that got mine is that temperature! We read a few times when someone claims to keep their home in that temperature range (high 50's or low 60's) in the winter even when below zero outdoors. Personally I do not believe it. To keep a home at that temperature even in the summer is ridiculous. However, yes, if there was a problem and not getting heat for a short time, that's okay as it is fixable. Not all things are fixable. Okay, rant over.
Looks like last night will be the last below zero temperature for us for a time and good riddance! Present temperature is a relatively warm 19 and we should get into the 20's yet today. Promise for a much warmer week coming. Bad part is we may even get some rain. Our hope is that the rain and warmth is enough to get rid of all the snow so we don't have to drive on ice. But, we have plenty of sand on hand here to spread if need be.
that temperature is right next to a window over the kitchen sink. I think I'd need to keep the house close to 80 to make that show something you wouldn't think is ridiculous.
I have the same problem where mine is. when the house is at 75-79°. When we're running on oil we keep the thermostat at 68°. Outside temp is now 8° And everyone is cold. Turned it up to 70°. This month's oil bill is going to be outrageous. Tomorrow it should be warm enough to start the stove again. Don’t have to worry about freezing pipes. Then we can actually be warm.
A relatively balmy -1 c feels -8 c or 30 f feels 17 f. Too much wind though but stove is throwing heat easily. Not long of a warm up as I'd like, as we get back to or below normal by Tuesday.
Beer is back out in the sunroom now and i aint festering anymore that its gonna freeze. Only minus 9 now and the long range looks fine. But a bunch of snow/rain coming up.
Crap...some 27 pages later and I’m burning cedar and cottonwood mostly these days. With a little bit of black locust to keep coals.
