    I was in the same boat as you a little over a year ago, and decided on picking up a ms261c, great saw for what I'm using it for. I don't have any complaints besides the price, but if you have the extra cash just go pro and don't look back. You'll be happy you did when the saw last a lifetime. Good luck with your purchase.

    The 291 is a model that I would stay far away from. If you're buddy can get you good pricing do yourself a favor and get a mag case pro saw. Some still have the John Deere effect "as I call it" with the Stihl brand.

    Here’s another option for ya ... a ported 241c with 16” bar ... 9.9lbs ... My FAVORITE saw to run by FAR !!!

    They work. With what I've been seeing from low end Stihl products, they're charging a premium for a bunch of Chinese parts.

    If I'm not mistaken farmer rob, it's when they make the stock exhaust, intake , and transfer ports inside the cylinder either bigger or wider. It increases performance of the saw.
