We are at 14 f at my place and about 9 inches of snow so far...by morning they say 3 f and another 8- 10 inches on the ground. I am off tomorrow too! The high is only supposed to be 5 f by 1pm tomorrow...damm...I have a 1/4 mile drive way...as long as the Tractor starts I am good with the cab, heat. 4 wd, and a 6 foot front snow blower....I may find out I have some very nice neighbors tomorrow when I start plowing...I will only help them out if they have hot cocoa and cookies for me !!! :coffee:

We ended up maybe in the 16-18" range, winds still gusting.

Finished my own plus a few old timers in my hood. Gotta keep my karma positive.

I see here everyone handled a winter storm
during winter with no major issus

News & weather channels are sensationalizing it as
    much as they can.

Grew up in WV & South west PA area:
Winter usually meant snow , wind & cold

Do you have an automatic damper installed?

I had that in one of the first wind storms we had this year, and I could not even use my stove. I quickly added the automatic damper (almost a requirement for burning coal anyway), and the problem took care of itself. I was able to burn wood despite 50 mph winds all night.

This was actually a pretty good storm. I thought this might turn into nothing, but it actually brought more snow then they said it would, with really cold temperatures and high winds. I am personally dreading pushing snow today as I use my cabless bulldozer, and in all this blowing snow, I'll be wearing as much of it as I push I think. Normally I do not count windchill factors, but today it is a real factor: 27 degrees below zero.

We did okay here I think electricity wise because we had a previous wind storm that took out most of the weak trees, then they came through with tree trimming crews and really beat back the trees around the powerlines.

Looks like snow totals around me are 16in, so I'll go with that.

Back at it today with the Troy-bilt snowblower. Then clean off the cars, shovel the front steps, rake off the roof. .etc, etc, etc.

looks like opening the hatches isn't going according to plan! the plow guy broke down! shoveled 75-100ft path to cars and Everest sized plow bank! will be able to get out in May! just not how we needed the day to start.

The news just announced the official snowfall amounts and it looks like we got 18.3 inches of snow.

Good thing I got a bulldozer...and some new snowshoes for Christmas.

I hope everyone is safe and warm. We haven't recieved an "official" snow fall total here but all I can say is we got smacked hard!!! I'm guessing 16" to 18". I have places in my yard that are 12" and some that are 36" with drifting. The wind only slowed down to about 30mph all night. Were at 10º right now and I know some of you are much colder.
Most of the coast here in NJ got blasted and it's not often when the shut the USCG base down for safety reasons, only skeleton crew on board with duty section.

    Lets dig out now!

shack, got that same quarter mile drive.. 75 inch meteor snowblower.. A cab that's Sweeet. Last winter we got hit with about 42 inch storm. I spent most of morning helping the neighbors, and 4 plow trucks that were stuck.

    Still snowing and blowing here.

Yup! Was talking about the same thing while visiting with my old partner at a dinner party last Sat. There were just far too many times of working in sub-zero temps all day to ever feel good about that line of work!

Storm, huh? Gonna have to take a peek at extended forecast and see just how far north it'll track.

Man, you ain't kidding!!! I "thought" about buying one years back as I'm getting older and my back is a mess. We recieved it under sad conditions due to Chris's Father passing but I'm sure he's happy it's getting used for us!!! :) It sure saved our butt's!
